Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Exchanging stories; meeting colourful people; finding fulfilment through giving; learning about interesting destinations for next trip.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books... Antifragile, What the Dog Saw, Zero to One, Sapiens: A History of Humankind, Atlas Shrugged, The Great Gatsby, Siddartha, The Road Less Travelled, Mans' Search for Meaning, The Power of Now.

Films... Big Fish, Almost Famous, Boyhood, American Beauty, Donnie Darko, Lost in Translation, Kings of Summer.

Music... Gypsy Jazz, Punk Rock, Classical Symphonies, Andalusian Flamenco, Psychedelic Trance.

Moderately allergic to TV. Last thing I watched was the Rugby World Cup semi-finals in 2015. Proudly Kiwi, the finals was saved for a bar.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Once upon a time, I was a winner of the New Zealand Programming Competition.

Update 2021:
Once upon another time, I tripped on the back of a camel, while riding through a sunset in the Sahara Desert.

Update 2022:
Once upon another time, I hitchhiked and slept outside (homelessly) for a week, while traveling from northern Portugal to my first psychedelic music festival.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am... a swimmer; chess player; programmer; acoustic guitarist; swing dancer; Kiwi; Londoner; Madrileño.

I'd love to learn about... cultures and lives different to my own; sub-cultures, counter-culture; rapidly growing industries; new opportunities enabled by technologies; what makes people different; what keeps us the same.
