About Me
Hi everyone!
Thank you for reading this!
I love to travel, seeing new places and meeting interesting people. I split my time living in a log cabin off the grid right outside of Vancouver and on a boat in a downtown Vancouver marina.
I just love what the Couchsurfing community represents. The sharing of our homes to make our travels even more memorable!
Typically I travel on 2 wheels (mostly by bicycle), and camp most of the time. But I also stay in hotels, Airbnb’s, and with the kindness of strangers by participating in Couchsurfing, as well as other home sharing apps. 😊
It’s the summer of 2024 and my plan is to explore B.C. on my touring mountain bike. Zigzagging the province, focusing on riding gravel, rail trails, fsr’s, and single track as much as possible.
Here’s a breakdown of my last few travel adventures:
Earlier 2024- I spent February, March, and April on a motorcycle adventure from my home in Vancouver, heading down the Pacific Coast, visiting people and places along the way, and eventually ended up at the southern tip of the Mexican Baja peninsula. Lots to explore down south! And then I turned around and slowly made my way back home to Vancouver.
In 2023 I went on a 53 day long mountain bike ride all over Vancouver Island as well as riding and camping on 10 of our amazing Gulf Islands! I also backpacked for 6 days on the Cape Scott Trail and some of the North Coast Trail (I had a roll-up backpack in one of my panniers).
In 2022 I rode my bicycle up North. I flew to Whitehorse, Yukon, and then rode the Dempster Hwy. up to Tuktoyaktuk, NWT, where I camped on the shore of the Arctic Ocean for several days, before riding south all the way back to Vancouver.
In 2021 I rode from Vancouver up to Haida Gwaii (again!) and biked and hiked all over those incredible islands.
In 2020 I cycled around a section of BC: Up the Sea 2 Sky, Duffey Lake Rd., 100 Mile House, southeast to Kamloops, east to Vernon, east to the western Kootenays, from Nakusp it was a fab 750(?) km on railtrails : Slocan Valley, Columbia & Western, and finally the Kettle Valley from Midway to Hope!Beautiful BC!
In 2019 I cycled a loop of BC (up the Sunshine Coast, up Vancouver Island, 18 hr. ferry to Prince Rupert, 8 hr. ferry to Haida Gwaii, back to Prince Rupert, across BC to Jasper, down to Banff, and then zigzagged the province back home).
In 2018 I rode my bicycle from Cabo San Lucas, Baja, Mexico all the way up the coast back home (4800 km). 77 days total.
And in 2017 I rode my bicycle from Newfoundland back home through all 10 provinces (8400 km). 122 days total.
Okay, I like bike touring, okay! ;)
Through Couchsurfing, and a couple of other amazing websites, I’ve met some wonderful and generous hosts on my travels which makes these journeys a little less arduous! Thank you so much!!
Naturally, I enjoy hosting travelers as well 😊
