Hello!

I live in the Orlando area have finally had the pleasure of hosting travelers since settling there two years ago. I work as a project manager and web developer for a web design agency and a creativity facilitator for The Dali Museum Innovation Labs in St. Petersburg, Florida.

In the past few years, I did some backpacking around. I lived and worked on a sailboat, teleported around Scotland and Wales (video below), volunteered on a vineyard and olive farm in Tuscany, and sought and found long "lost" Italian family in Sicily. I enjoyed learning French, Italian, and Spanish and a few words in goat (learned on the Tuscan farm) but all four languages are getting rusty now, so I would love to host some fluent speakers.

I think every person has something unique to teach and I hope that, by visiting other people's own little bubble of life, I can distil the most valuable lessons from my experiences with others, while allowing them the opportunity to do the same.

I like allllll different types of music and I usually discover music I like from other people. But when left to my own choices I find myself listening to Hozier, Paul Simon, Black Keys, Lumineers, Tom Petty, Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Jack Johnson, Daft Punk, Mumford, Lord Huron, Big Gigantic, Macklemore, Rage Against the Machine. Ezra Bell, Radical Face, Gregory Alan Isakov, Benjamin Francis Leftwich, Ed Sharpe.

I'm a social movie person. I tend not to watch movies unless I'm with other people but I love Interstellar, Inception, Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, and stand-up comedy specials like Louis CK and Aziz Ansari.

For books, I like biographies, novels, and psychology. Shantaram may be the most incredible and eloquently-told story I've ever read. Unbroken is right up there with it. I loved the Elon Musk biography by Ashlee Vance and Steve Jobs and Einstein, both by Walter Isaacson. Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert was great. Probably about half of the books I've "read" in the last few years have been audiobooks.

My father and I went to Sicily to try to find parts of our extended family a few years ago. With only the family name, several possible town names, and limited Italian, we found 20+ family members all gathered together because it was Easter day. It was one of those experiences that just didn't feel like real life even while it was happening.

I can gift you Pimsleur audio lessons for French and/or Spanish and/or Italian. The lessons teach conversationally and have really helped me get to the point where I feel comfortable traveling in places that speak French, Italian, and Spanish.

I can teach you how to do improv comedy games. They're a great way to get people talking and laughing together. And can be really useful if you're interested in building emotional intelligence or public speaking skills.
