ABOUT ME

An engineer who enjoys philosophy, music, history, and culture as much as science and technology. I love to meet new people and learn new perspectives on how others live their lives.

I work in the San Francisco Bay area doing tech, finished school in the bay and figured I stick around the area (Stanford university, California) I was born in China, I grew up in the United States, and have spent significant amount of time living and studying in Europe.

I would love to learn more about all the different cultures of the world, and I'm always down for an interesting political discussion. I'm extremely tolerant of different cultural views and I would love to learn more from everyone that I meet.

I'm an hobbyist musician, though I've had far less time than I would prefer to play music these days. Currently Piano, formerly oboe, clarinet, sax.

I live my life to broaden my horizons, to see, experience, and live the world.

Some of my most interesting travel experiences has been through Couch surfing. So far, I have only meet the best people couch surfing.

Favorite music: Mostly alternative music these days. Classical music (I also play piano and oboe, a bit of sax and clarinet)

Books: The Great Gatsby, Catcher in the Rye, Siddhartha, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, essays and some books from some random philosophers, (Adorno, Bertrand, Mann)

Stargazing at a mountain top on a moonless night in the middle of the Sierra Nevada Mountains (Stanislaus National Park, USA)

Used the fire escape ladder to climb to the top of Dome of the Uspenski Cathedral in Helsinki to watch the Sunset, and then waiting for the Nordic Summer Sunrise set the sky on fire at the docks.

I know a bit of music. I'm a classically trained pianist, though a bit rusty these days.

I'm a fluent speaker of Chinese (Mandarin/Standard Chinese) and English

If you would like to practice English or Chinese while you are hosting me, let me know ahead of time so I can plan accordingly. I love to share both of the languages and cultures.

I'm knowledgeable in most fields of Science, Math, and Engineering. I'm also familiar with most technology.
