Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To live, grow and get out of my comfort zone.
ABOUT ME
I strive to be a minimalist, which to me means having just what I need for what I want to do. My time is valuable and I've learned that stuff takes up time. I sometimes run or swim, though I guess I should do it more often (but I imagine most of us have this problem). I'm not really religious. I think people create their own God through living. But I do find myself attracted to Buddhism. I love music and other forms of art. I see myself one day being self-employed.
PHILOSOPHY
Wonder about the world. It's an amazing place.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have joined many events, surfed and hosted once or twice. Above all else, I really like the social aspect of couchsurfing. It's not just about making friends, it's also a valuable learning experience when you realise that your preconceived notions of what a culture is about turn out to be not quite right.

Music, Movies, and Books
A quick look through my iTunes collection reveals artists like Adele, Amanda Marshall, Anastacia, Bruce Hornsby, Diana Krall, Dire Straits, Eric Clapton, Evanescence, Groove Armada, Ilse DeLange, James Blunt, Jewel, Katie Melua, Lucie Silvas, Phil Collins, Robbie Williams, Room Eleven, Sheryl Crow, Stef Bos and Sting. In general, I like a variety of music though, and I listen to anything from symphonic metal to classical. It just depends on the mood I'm in, what I like to listen to at that time. But music is a pretty big thing for me.
I do like movies, but not as much as music. I think this is because watching a movie is more of a passive activity, while listening to music provides an opportunity to connect with my own thoughts and feelings. But there are certain movies that do that too. Just can't think of any right now. ;)
Books I've read include several Dan Brown books, like The Da Vinci Code, Angels And Demons, Inferno and Deception Point. But I'm actually curious about other authors. Because as nice as he can write, Dan Brown seems to repeat the same kind of story line, just with different characters. So send me a message if you have a suggestion. ;)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Being inside the Khong Lor cave in Laos. Running 7 kilometers underneath a mountain, and being 40 meters high in some areas, I realized it must have taken millenia for the cave to form.
Walking in Iceland, on the largest glacier of Europe, and realizing it takes 1000 years for the ice to flow into sea.
Working and living abroad, and being proud of myself to have realised this. In 2014 I worked in Antwerp for 6 months. Currently I'm in Vienna, Austria.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd like to think I'm a good cook, but I don't do it that often. When I do, I usually look something up online and just go for it, and it works out pretty well. Must be because I'm so good at math, so I get the quantities of the ingredients right even if I make more or less than the recipe says. ;)
I would be able to teach you about photography though.
Since I'm a software developer, I can probably also help you with things like websites.
What I'd really like to learn is to play an instrument. The piano, or the guitar. Or the piano, or the guitar... Really, I think making music is awesome.
