Overview
About Me
"He spoke of the very simple things. That it is right for a gull to fly, that freedom is the very nature of his being, that whatever stands against that freedom must be set aside, be it ritual or superstition or limitation in any form.
"Set aside," came a voice from the multitude, "even if it is the Law of the Flock?"
"The only true law is that which leads to freedom" Jonathan said.
"There is no other.""
(Richard Bach - Jonathan Livingston Seagull)

I am a 42 year old guy enjoying lifes gifts and living with lovely Ronja (https://www.couchsurfing.com/people/ronjal). I spend my days working, practicing taiji, dancing, doing projects and trying to leave out time for just enjoying it all.
I live in a 100m2 house a bit outside central Copenhagen (20 minutes with public transportation, and easy access to most of the city). The local area has some nice green areas, but otherwise does not have much to offer unless you are interested in old school Danish working class culture.
Years ago a did a PhD working with "temporary spaces for user driven innovation". More specifically how urban planners can cooperate more with urban actors through experiments in urban space. I took my masters degree at Roskilde University and wrote my thesis on youth culture with special focus on young people's wants for participation in modern democracy.
I am passionate about taiji and qigong and practice about an hour a day. I also enjoy other forms of bodywork and like to try new things related to my body-being. I love to dance, although I am not very good at it. I have done some courses in tango and blues dance and would love to find places to dance around the world.
I flirt with Taoism and Buddhism and generally spend a lot of time trying to be gentle on the world and myself. I find that if only I can judge my surroundings less, living is much easier.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I have found out how great it is to open your home to people from around the world and to stay with people while travelling.
I have had som great experiences couchsurfing myself:
In 2010 I did a lovely trip around the world with my former partner Juliane. We have had a great time surfing in the USA, New Zealand and Australia where we met a lot of beautiful people. Some pictures from our trip can be seen at:

In 2014 I traveled on the westcoast of USA and in the Dominican Republic with Ronja (http://www.couchsurfing.org/profile.html?id=HAT4T5A) and had a great time: https://www.facebook.com/petermunthekaas/media_set?set=a.10152718884631788.570351787&type=3
Interests
I love practicing Qigong andTaiji and have done so for quite a few years now. Taiji have given me a completely new understanding of my body-being and how I can interact with the world around me. My teachers page can be found here: https://www.taijiandqigong.com/
I have gotten into Circling and Authentic Relating lately and find the practices here really interesting. The idea of being more in connection with others and more honest with myself seems to be a path to some important changes. I am active in building a Circling community in Copenhagen and am currently working for Circling Europe: https://www.circlingeurope.com/
I have fallen in love with dancing in general and blues dancing in particular. I think it is mostly about the amazing feeling of moving in connection with another human being that intrigues me.
I have done a lot of larping (Live Action Role Playing) and is an active part of the Nordic Larp community. I have organized quite a few larps (www.vimeo.com/nordiclarp).
Ronja and I are active in the Scandinavian burner scene, have been to Burning Man a few times and have been part of the Borderland (the main Scandinavian burn) since 2015.
I am also interested in alot of other stuff such as cooking, boardgames and photography. or just to hang out with people and talk about how the world works. Right now my main mental preoccupation is around how reality and identity goes together.

Music, Movies, and Books
I adore "The Little Prince" by Antoine De Saint-Exupery and "Jonathan Livingston Seagull" by Richard Bach because of the deep truths put so simply into what many consider to be childrens books. I am intrigued by the humorous universes of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, "American Gods" and "Anansi Boys" by Neil Gaiman and basically everything Terry Pratchett has written.
I feel inspired by Eckhart Tolle, Peter Ralston, David Bohm, Pablo Coelho, Mark Epstein and others for the deep insights they offer into what being means. I love writers such as John Pilger, Naomi Klein and Raj Patel because they make me righteously angry about the state of the world.
I love comics such as Sandman, Saga, Lucifer, Preacher, Transmetropolitan, Criminal and 100 Bullets.
That said. I sadly dont get much reading done these days...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I listen to all sorts of music. I grew up with Roy Orbison, The Beatles, Dire Straits, Creedence Clearwater Revival and Leonard Cohen. In my early youth i fell in love with The Police and The Clash who have followed me since then.
I have had fun with Iron Maiden and Manowar, danced to ska like Mad Caddies, Five Iron Frenzy and Less than Jake and fallen in love with the aggression of System of a Down and Rage Against the Machine.
Other artists i really like are Lamb, Dave Matthews Band, Jack Johnson, Jason Mraz, Imogen Heap, Live, Radiohead, Portishead, Ingrid Michaelson, Massive Attack, John Mayor...and many more.
These days im listening to whatever spotify discover offers up or delve into long playlists with a mix of music I like to dance to.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I relatively rarely watch movies or tv-shows these days, but I have been through alot of shows a couple of years back and have spent many hours in the company of Rome, Weeds, Orange is the new black, How i met your mother, Breaking bad and so on.
Some of my favorite movies are Memento, The Ninth Gate, Donnie Darko and Into the Wild.
