About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling a lot and hosting travelers in my beautiful hometown Budapest.

ABOUT ME

Generally I'd say, I'm a dreamer who always tries to experience something new and different. A few years ago I used to have a suit and tie investment banking job, but felt like Tyler Durden, so I decided to become an architect. Now I work as an architect and a project manager, I co-own a construction related startup, and I continously study. I meet my friends, read, climb and ride as much as possible. I'm willing to use my time well, experience, create and travel a lot.

PHILOSOPHY

"The swamp pheasant has to walk ten paces for one peck and a hundred paces for one drink, but it does not want to be kept in a cage."

"I must create a system or be enslaved by another man's."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm happy to host you, and happy to be hosted by you when traveling. I'm eager to show the beauties of living in Budapest to those who are interested.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I spent a few weeks in the Netherlands thanks to my nice host and Couchsurfing, before finding a place to rent for a summer job.

Interests

I am quite into sports. I am a snowboarder for about fifteen years, focusing on freeriding. I surf when I have the chance, and I am crazy about rock climbing.

I love hanging out with my friends, drinking good wine and telling endless, stupid stories to each other. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to old punk bands like Bad Brains, Black Flag, Ramones, or The Clash, newer punkrock like NOFX, Bad Religion, Lagwagon, Anti-Flag, or Rise Against, and oldie rock like Bob Dylan. I love classic rap like Gang Starr and 2Pac, some Hungarian hip-hop like Akkezdet Phiai, and some harder to categorize weirder stuff like The Avalanches or Aphex Twin.

My favourite writers are Kundera (The Unbearable Lightness of Being), Nabokov (Pale Fire), Camus (The Myth of Sisyphus), Cortázar (The Winners), Douglas Coupland (Generation X), Vonnegut (Cat's Cradle), Hunter S. Thompson (Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas), Hesse (The Glass Bead Game), Nietsche (Daybreak), Thomas Mann (The Magic Mountain) Bulgakov (The Master and Margarita) and Wallace (Infinite Jest).

My favourite movies are Blow-Up, Den Brysomme Mannen, Let The Right One In, A Serious Man, Donnie Darko, Fight Club, Arabian Nights, A Most Violent Year, Das Leben der Anderen, El Secretos de Sus Ojos, and much more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

All my deep powder forest runs.

Freeriding Col du Bal.

Climbing harder than the last time.

Deepwater soloing at Lake Garda.

Love someone and being loved.

The first wave I caught.

Seeing the blooming of the Tisza as a kid.

Seeing a full solar eclipse.

Good times with friends, fun and games, endless summers...

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess I'm able to tell endless stories about the beauties of architecture, powder riding, rock climbing, outdoor adventures, interesting human encounters, friendship, love, Budapest nightlife and literature. :) And in case you are in Hungary I can guide you to great places, which are unknown to most of the locals as well. I am open minded and happy to learn from the new people I meet.
