ABOUT ME

I co-founded ITO World Ltd, a transport analytics company with some 14 member staff. I am also a visiting Fellow at the Centre for Transport and Society at the University of the West of England.

Supports OpenStreetMap in many ways and contributes extensively to Wikipedia. Loves Permaculture and gets involved in growing lots of stuff, including bits of guerrilla gardening from time to time!

In the past I have developed film special effects for Jim Henson Organisation (Babe, TMNT etc).

Married for 10 years to a partner I have known for 15 years.

PHILOSOPHY

We have to create the positive world we want to live in. Change is natural but it takes a bit of time to happen so don't get discouraged in the mean time and link up with others who are working on the same stuff.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Have couchsurfed once so far, for a week in Detroit in 2010. Really enjoyed living with people who grew up and knew the area really well. Offer a room in out house in Ipswich in Suffolk. No one has yet taken us up on that one yet though, possibly because I have only just ticked the box (Oct14) saying that we offer a room!

Personal mobility in the information age, urban activism, growing stuff (not always on our own land although we do have a small-holding, chickens etc), making cities work better, meeting people who are exploring new ideas in urban living.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visiting Detroit in 2010 at an amazing point in its story, both on its knees and bursting with new energy and ideas. Visiting Tokyo and places hit by the coastline hit by the 2011 Tsunami. Being presented with an Academy Award in the 1991 Oscars by Tom Hanks of my part in the techie behind the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!
