About Me

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Peter!

I like to move around, I spent 5 years in the UK, 4 years in Spain, a few months here, a few months there, including 9 months in South America. I'm originally from Poland, but my personality fits the south of Europe a lot more, especially Spain :) Spending 10+ years all over the map and meeting countless people made me appreciate the variety of experiences the life has to offer.

I really enjoy meeting like-minded people: travellers, creatives, business owners, so if you see me around, on CS hangouts, or see my public trip, say hi!

A few years ago I discovered that I really enjoy long road trips and that's what I've been trying to do since.

I'm planning to move back to Valencia, Spain, as it's one of my favourite cities ever, and the Spanish way of living feels just right to me. I love the laid back attitude! If you've never been to Valencia, ask me about it and I will tell you why I love it so much!

You can also message me on Instagram: @peter.legierski - I haven't been updating it since covid, but you can see a bunch of pics from my 8 months in South America and my solo motorcycle trip through Europe before that.

Recently I also got back into portrait photography after 10 or so years. You can find my photos on this Instagram account: @midnight.pete

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Meetings with CS people, official and unofficial. Surfing and hosting on a small scale as well, but mainly events, meetings, hangouts.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It seems smaller cities have the best CS communities. Aberdeen was truly amazing! Most people moving to Aberdeen stayed there for at least a year, which allowed us to get to know each other and form true friendships.

It is also a great way to make new friends quickly after moving to a new place. I spent some time in Wroclaw (Poland) recently, and started attending a bunch of meetings, which helped me form a group of friends I'm hanging out with and travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Good music. Classical music, cinematic music. Contemporary artists incorporating piano, cello, violin etc. Most recent discoveries: Moondog, Smoove & Turrell, Gregory Porter.

More recently I started listening to electronic music. No specific artists, plucking a song or two every week from Spotify's Discover Weekly ❤

Working my way through A Song of Ice and Fire series (the Game of Thrones books), picking up strange English expressions along the way. It is known.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Crashing a wedding in a random small village, sleeping on the beach, sleeping on the meadow, hitchhiking with a bus full of ~60yo ladies, climbing up to an ancient monastery with a 84yo lady - all during one week in Greece.

Crossing Vietnam on a motorcycle (nearly 5000km), using small roads going through small villages, hanging out with local people (and even attending a wedding reception!)

Euro trip on a motorcycle (around 3000km), starting in Wroclaw, Poland, continuing through Germany, Switzerland, France, finishing in Valencia, Spain, where I currently live.

Attending La Tomatina 2017 (massive tomato fight in Spain).

Watching Total Solar Eclipse 2019 on the beach in Chile, in the 100% path. It looked absolutely beautiful!

Road trip through South America, nearly 30000km in 8 months between the north of Peru and the south of Argentina/Chile.

Offroading in the deserts of UAE, sleeping in a tent with close to zero camping gear, trying to stay away from scorpions!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you speak Spanish and want to learn English - I'd be more than happy to do a language exchange with you.

Besides that I can teach you basics of indoor climbing (it's fun!) and photography (and why most people hate flash in their cameras, when they shouldn't).

We can also talk about investing if you're interested (sadly, most people aren't), I can share my personal, hands-on experience investing in the UK, if you'd like to get started yourself. It really isn't that complicated!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Excellent pancakes and french toasts, travel stories, Spotify playlists, deep discussions about Universal Basic Income, your favourite type of cheese or whether the left- or right-hand traffic makes more sense.

Let the good times roll!
