About Me

Hi there! I'm Peter and although I originally signed up for Couchsurfing in 2012, I've never really used it until now (2018). I was born in Ontario, Canada, but my family moved to the southern United States when I was still a baby. I grew up, like many American kids, playing a variety of sports and spending lots of time outside, but upon entering my teenage years my passion quickly became music. I started playing the guitar when I was 14 and I have loved writing and performing songs ever since! Another thing about my life (thus far) is that I have moved around a lot. Nine times to be exact with stops in four different countries. This has given me a great appreciation for many of the amazing cultures out there and has helped me to learn two foreign languages, German and French. At the moment, I'm taking some time off work to study French full time and prepare for my next academic endeavor, which gives me a ton of flexibility to travel!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Like I mentioned in my "About Me" section, I'm taking some time off work, which means that I have time to explore some new places / make some new friends through hosting. I've read a bit about Couchsurfing and have heard positive things from friends and colleagues, but have never used the platform to facilitate exchanges when traveling. One of the frustrating things when visiting a new country is how hard it can be to meet local people who can show you the best of what a place has to offer. This seems like an excellent resource for connecting with interesting people!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There's an abandoned rock quarry close to my house that someone showed me a while back. A couple of my friends and I jumped off one of the 40 foot cliffs into the clear water below. I'm somewhat afraid of heights and still can't believe I did it.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to share some of the songs I've written for hosts and enjoy cooking big meals. My specialty meal is probably "Shrimp & Grits," a true southern classic.
