About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To teach English and travel Europe
ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Matt, a recent college graduate from California set to explore Europe while teaching English abroad. Having spent my entire life as a student privileged with education and being on the verge of graduating to take an engineering job, these next few years are the perfect opportunity to share my education and explore my interests in Europe and teaching before I am locked into a professional career. I am outgoing, dependable, have a crazy enthusiasm for different cultures and foods, and am an ideal couch occupant. Having traveled Italy two summers ago on a two week backpacking trip, I’ve become acquainted with Italian culture and am eager to explore the rest of Europe.
And when my travels are through, I will return home to and return, in kind, the generosity I've received.
PHILOSOPHY
Live life like its the only one you have. Be good to your neighbors; we're all in this together. Be passionate and be yourself.
Can't claim I wrote it, but it's good:
You should never lie, cheat, steal or drink. But if you must lie, lie in the arms of the one you love. If you must cheat, cheat death. If you must steal, steal out of bad company and if you must drink......drink in the moments!!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Having just joined the program, I am planning to first travel with my brother, couchsurfing through Europe.
Once I return to the states, I anticipate my couchsurfing experiences will inspire me to open up my home to fellow world-travelers.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have second hand experience in hosting CouchSurfers (many of my friends host often), but am fairly new to the experience.
I have hosted exchange students, which is always exciting. I have participated in a home-stay program in Japan and backpacked in Italy.
I hope to expand this list of experiences after this summer.
Interests
I have three primary interests in life. These are: learning, skiing, and FOOD! I'm a very inquisitive person by nature and go the extra distance in the name of science and learning. I'm fairly adventurous and outdoorsy; vacations typically involve camping, hiking, fishing, water sports, and skiing. But more importantly and more passionately, I love sampling different foods from around the world.
