About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Weathering the storm :)

ABOUT ME

Currently an unemployed postgraduate researcher looking for opportunities! Still try to leave the country as much as I can to see as many places as possible before I lose the chance! I have been on couchsurfing for years and had so many good experiences so I still try keep it up as often as I can. Done much more hosting than surfing but that will probably change soon. I keep meaning to verify myself but without a job at the moment it is difficult. I have to watch every penny basically, sorry.

I'm from Edinburgh but have lived in Glasgow for years now. I studied modern history and mainly political philosophy and love to talk about them. I also am a big fan of music of all kinds and play a bunch of instruments. Know lots of music folk here thanks to a music collective so can probably point you to a bunch of gigs. I've played gigs in Germany, France, UK, Ireland and Greece. Hope to do more!

I like to think I'm open minded and not judgemental and try to understand people. I am curious about the world and will probably bug you with questions about where you are from, what it's like there blah blah
I would describe myself as a person easily infected with enthusiasm. By that I mean I am happy to soak in other peoples knowledge even if I am not particularly interested in the subject. Honestly, I am quite happy to sit around talking over drinks, wander on my own, jam with people, be shown around or cook or whatever ... Its all the experience that counts.

Other than that i'm just an average long haired pirate wannabe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosting mostly so far but surfing soon. I can show people lots of things in Glasgow and know a fair bit about the local music scene. Big into history stuff so expect me to bore ya with facts from Scottish history. I can cook some mean veggie curry ;)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a fair few people in the old flat. Even have this big pin board with all the places they have come from. They were all pretty awesome and I had great times with all of them. I have only surfed a couple of times but everyone I met was awesome. In a new flat now and hopefully will be the same awesome times.

Music, Movies, and Books

Kinda a sucker for Glam Rock and cheesy 80s things with hairspray and leather and the likes .... Also love classic rock and blues and... well just about anything which has a good tune

Love all kinds of movies, don't really have a preference for one genre although I love a good ol' action..

Books/Authors I love include: Song of Ice and Fire series, Stephen King, P.D James... again, don't really have a preference for genres, just like a good read

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Walked over the Croatian border from Hungary in the brilliant sunshine and ran into a farmer who gave us free beer and corn on the cob whilst his whole extended family chatted with us. His son then drove us really drunk and terrifyingly to the next village where we met a pub owner who let us stay and gave us free beer. Or camped in the bay of Skail in isle of Orkney.

Teach, Learn, Share

If your looking for local music scenes or anything like that I have pretty much played in like half of the venues in this country :D I also play a bunch of instruments.. Always good to jam with people :)

I also do Scottish History, I know a fair bit of random facts about the country and area :) don't think I'd make the worst tour guide :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation and company ... I am not a particularly demanding person and will follow house rules and keep things how I found them.
