About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To meet you!
ABOUT ME
I studied pharmacology as an undergraduate at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, and worked for 4 years in a cancer research laboratory at the University of Pennsylvania. Recognizing that I had a passion for medical ethics and public health, I pursued a Master of Bioethics degree from UPenn. Since graduation, I began work as a researcher for Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics.
I love meeting new people and learning about their lives. I especially like understanding cultural similarities/differences. I'm an easy going person, and I like to try new foods, have new experiences, and see new places!
PHILOSOPHY
Life is short, and I want to see, learn, and experience as much as possible while I'm here!! :-)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I couch surfed this past summer in Milan, Italy for one week. I stayed with the sweetest Italian family, who took great care of me. I've never hosted, but I hope to give that same experience to travelers in Baltimore.
Interests
I enjoy reading, playing piano, going out to restaurants and bars, and brewing my own homemade beer.

Music, Movies, and Books
I listen to all types of music but especially love classic rock (Bruce Springsteen, Led Zeppelin, Billy Joel, The Eagles, Pink Floyd), classical (Beethoven), and jazz (Duke Ellington, Oscar Peterson), foreign pop (Tarkan, Stromae, J. Y. Park) and BRUNO MARS!!! Some of my favorite movies are Shawshank Redemption, Fight Club, Whiplash, Birdman, and anything directed by the Cohen brothers. I'm also a huge nerd and enjoy Ancient Greece lit (Aristophanes, Euripides, Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Plato). I watch little TV, but love four shows dearly: Breaking Bad, House of Cards, The Man in the High Castle, and Better Call Saul.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One of the most amazing experiences I've had was travelling to a small fishing village in Turkey and living there for several days. The scenery was absolutely beautiful, I got to mix with some of the locals, and even eat dinner with the cutest old village couple. The dinner was a nice gesture considering my lack of Turkish and their lack of English made communication between us almost impossible. But we still ate together, trying to make conversation. The simplicity of their village life and their rawness and disregard of manners--they were spitting out lamb bones from mouth to table throughout the dinner--was one of the most refreshing experiences I've ever had. Their hospitality and care for me showed me that we were not so different after all.
