About Me
Hey, I'm Petr (Two syllables. There's no vowel at the end, yeah. Just read it the way it's spelled, it's kind of like PEH-turr but you roll the R and don't push your lips out as much. But Peter is also fine for the sake of everyone's sanity.)
I'm a pretty normal guy looking to meet and bond with new people from different countries. Always eager to learn about essentially anything and always down for a beer. Deep inside, I'm a major nerd. I have recently gotten better at hiding that part of me though. You're not even going to notice if you don't ask (I hope you ask).
Even when I'm not hosting or traveling, I love meeting up with other CSers. So hit me up!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Initially, I joined CS to meet new people and help fellow travelers keep their budgets low so they can see more.
Now after my previous experiences, I realized that Couchsurfing is much more than that. It's about mutual learning. Not only about different cultures and languages, but mostly about yourself and your own life. About expanding your horizons, seeing the world from new perspectives, and about breaking out of the isolated social bubble you had no idea you were trapped in. If you're very good/educated at something and you're willing to enthusiastically ramble on about it for hours on end, I need to meet you.
If you consider yourself shy, we're probably not a good match. I enjoy making strong connections with strangers and talk about just pretty much anything. I love going out just as much as I like staying at home, given there's a good company.
Interests
Music is my life, I've been playing the piano actively for around 12 years now and I have a collection of ~20 different instruments (including erhu, bagpipes, harp and a musical saw), some of which were designed and built by me. What I study is also a major hobby of mine. If I look like I'm phasing out, you've probably inadvertently planted a mathematically interesting idea in my head. I'm sorry in advance.
And like everyone else on this platform I love to travel, ideally to unusual destinations and on a low budget. I specifically love the Nordics and the Pacific Northwest in the US.

Music, Movies, and Books
I don't watch too much TV. There are too many interesting things to talk about to waste 2 hours sitting in silence. This is not supposed to be a pretentious/smug boycott of Hollywood, it's just not my preferred way to spend time.
Music on the other hand fills most of my day. Mostly rock, blues, ragtime, metal, classical music. Everything that is experimental, progressive, or somehow new and unusual works though. The more squeaky and non-harmonic it is, the better. Test me.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
This one time I infiltrated the Scientology headquarters in NYC to get free gifts for my friend back in the Czech Republic. They did their best to convince me that Scientology truly is the only option for me and my lying skills were really tested that day. But I had a nice cup of coffee for free. I only got a few booklets, but I guess that counts.
One day, I'll go back and complete my quest.
Teach, Learn, Share
Useful Czech phrases, how to look and act like a local, which of our countless different beers are the best.
I also genuinely enjoy hosting and I try to make sure that my guests have a great time in Prague. I own a car so I can pick you up from the airport/bus station/port/heliport. We can also see things outside of Prague.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My cooking and my various travel stories.
I can also give you a private concert if you have a piano at your place or if there's a street piano somewhere.
