About Me
Hi! I'm Petra
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I ended up on Coucsurfing quite some time ago while still in high school as a way to do budget travelling. Over the years I have realized that Cs is more than that, it's a community and it's about sharing and exchange; when travelling it's the best way to discover a new place by meeting the locals, and when you're no longer on the road it's a way to bring the world to your home.
Interests
My interests are quite dispersed, I'm into many things but expert at none :D
I spend a lot of time discovering new music, it's almost like looking for new soundtracks for new life events/eras. Sometimes music can help you move on, sometimes it takes you back, in any case, it gets under your skin.
I witness myself often discussing psychological topics or even spiritual stuff, even though I'm sometimes a little cynical about it :p I would say I'm a good listener more than a talker.
Good debates are also welcome, and I will sometimes play the devil's advocate just for the sake of it but with no evil intentions :)
Even though I'm not your typical sports enthusiast, I enjoy long walks, hikes and evening runs. If I needed to pick up a sport, it would probably be some type of martial arts/meditation, like QiGong.
Music, Movies, and Books
Anything that speaks to me; I like all different kinds of music, it's really hard to decide for just one specific genre. I'm kind of into psychedelic rock, world music of different sorts, I also enjoy black/death/folk metal, outlandish pop, bossa nova..
Some movie directors I enjoy are Wes Andreson, Tarantino, Brothers Coen, Lars Von Trier, David Lynch
And books that have marked me are Patrick Süskind's Parfum, Hermann Hesse's Demian and Steppenwolf, Dostoyevski...; in general, I mostly enjoy literature/films dealing with intriguing, multilayered personalities and their world experience and worldview.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Saw sperm whales from a hellicopter!
Teach, Learn, Share
I beieve every person and situation can offer you an opportunity to learn / we're all each other's teachers if we allow ourselves this view. But of we use slightly less abstract terms, I could teach you some good origami techniques, give you some tips for making various foods, recommend you some good music perhaps.
I love throwing feasts, eg. cooking for many people and then inviting them over for a great dinner over a glass of wine :) sharing good times with people is one of the greatest and most memorable joys of life.
