Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn how to live comfortably in the wilderness.
ABOUT ME
I am naive.
I am curious.
I am me.
and a bit skeptical for good measure.
PHILOSOPHY
Everything in moderation, even moderation in moderation, says Dad.
You have to learn to laugh at yourself, says Mom.
Avoiding the truth defeats the purpose of speech as communication, said Trungpa.
It is no measure of sanity to be well adjusted to a sick society, said Krishnamurti.
Learn from everyone and everything for that matter, I say.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Hosting, surfing, spreading the word.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Before I found out about CS I stayed with loads of strangers; from Gutterpunks in Prague Squats, Old Muslim Families on the Mount of Olives, a tent city in Seattle and a family of Gypsies in Eastern Romania.
Since CS I've stayed with people around Europe and the States, hosted in Oslo and Amsterdam and have attended some gatherings every now and again.
Interests
At the moment I am interested in Permaculture and its applications in the contemporary art field. I'm also learning a lot about gardening, bushcraft skills, wild foods and medicines and fermentation.
Occasionally I pick up my banjo or blow a harmonica.
In general, I enjoy learning, biking and walking long distances, sitting for long durations, cooking, oh and eating too.
Learning to follow and lead simultaneously.
For the past couple of years I've been trying to get the hang of observing the world rotating in relation to the sun, trying using the terms sunsight and sunclipse instead of sunrise and sunset(words that assume the world is flat).

Music, Movies, and Books
Books about the natural world, both philosophically and practically. David Abrams, Tom Brown Jr, R.W. Emerson
I've been into Folk Music recently, contemporary and classic. Contemporary stuff like: Fleet Foxes, Pearl and the Beard, First-Aid Kit, The Tallest Man on Earth and Joanna Newsome. Classic stuff like: Mulatu Astatke, Baobab Orchestra, Fela Kuti, Woodie Guthrie and Bob Marley
MOVIES- My Dinner with Andre, Harold and Maude and Baraka are by far at the top of my list. And I seem to watch a lot of documentaries.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Birth.
and after that..
I have lived in the mountains with guerrillas, danced with gypsies, played with orphans, ran naked in the arctic circle, woke from a dream on stage.
Currently living and teaching at an alternative boarding school, which I never imagined myself doing.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm not sure I can teach anything any more. I can help people who ask for help, and I know a fair amount about bicycles, plants, photography, bushcraft, the contemporary art world and travelling on the cheap.
