About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to get a little crazy

ABOUT ME

Well, I am a multi-instrumental musician who plays in some crazy number of bands (like 10 or 11 I think). I also teach little kids how to play the piano, guitar, bass, and drums. My main band, HoneyBaked, won a Birmingham Area Music Award for best Improvisational Rock/ Jam Band 2007. The styles of music I currently play on gigs ranges from bluegrass to classical to punk rock to jazz. I am very easy to get along with... if I like you that is.

PHILOSOPHY

Live your life for yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just trying to provide a place to crash so maybe someday I can crash.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a great time going up to Chicago and sitting in with these local musicians that were hosting a jam session. After having hosted Fonda and Meg (AKA Daaaa girls) from Chicago, they let us (a jazz combo) crash at their place before we flew out for Germany. They are so nice, and I just love meeting new people.

Interests

I am a(n) musician, teacher, friend, pushover, traveler, homebody, builder, destroyer, inventor, moron, collector, accumulator, skeptic, believer, dog-owner, sinner, saint, musicologist, food-lover, critic, outdoorsman, indoorsman, mover, shaker, couch potato, mac.

Music, Movies, and Books

so many things to list all at once, but my profession is music... so my job is to know everything about music. I have therefore set out on this journey to learn in depth about EVERY style of music I come across. From 50 cent, to taylor swift, to the penguin cafe orchestra, to others I haven't even heard of I am deeply and passionately interested.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My dog once jumped out of my car to try to catch a horse. The only way I realized she had jumped is because of a natural sound phenomenon called "The Doppler Effect." She broke her leg and completely forgot about that horse she wanted to meet!

I once got my heartbroken when a turtle was crossing the road. I stopped to help it, but a line of 7 cars were coming in his lane. 6 of the cars swerved around him, but the 7th car sped up and made a big mess. Not amazing, just sad and disgusting.

I've never broken a bone.

My uncle got stung by a stingray.

My great uncle stuck his middle fingers in a fan as a kid and it cut them off. His other hands' middle fingers are stuck together permanently.

I have shared a stage with The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Eric Essix, Carlos Pino, Mark Kimbrell, Chris Fryar, Hightide Blues, Earthbound, Carlos Santana, Salvador Santana, Better Than Ezra, Ona Watson, Peter Wolf, Chuck Leavell, Moses Mayfield, Eric McFadden Trio, Within Reason, and Bethany Borg.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you some nerdy music stuff, but I charge $40 an hour for lessons. Maybe I'll introduce you to some bands you've never heard of.
