About Me

CURRENT MISSION

**There are two of us traveling together - brother, me (27yrs old) and sister, Kira (26yrs old). We have a tent so although couches/indoor floors are preferable if you have a backyard where we can set up a tent that works too!

Biking through New Zealand Dec 10th-Jan 18th with my sister. We're planning to camp most of the way and check out cool spots along the way however crashing on a couch would be nice for part of the journey ;-). The longest we've biked together was 10 days along the Danube river in Germany and it was an awesome experience we'll never forget. That trip led us to New Zealand because of a chance encounter with a man at a bike shop in a small village that was having a renaissance festival that day (happens once every 2yrs). Long story short he let us couchsurf with his family and told us about his dream to bike New Zealand during Germany's winter (when no one needs bike repair) which is New Zealand's summer. It sounded awesome to us at the time and so 7 years later here we are!

ABOUT US

My sister and I are from Upstate New York and now live in Venice, CA. I'm an avid tennis player and she's a boxer (She's actually won a few tournaments believe it or not). We're both the adventurous types having camped numerous times before, most recently at the Grand Canyon.

PHILOSOPHY

Have a beginner's mind, be open to trying new things at least once, happiness is our default state of mind, learn from everyone, be honest and clear in your communication, & travel. Focus on the positives of life and be grateful for being alive each day.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My most memorable experience (exciting & scary one!) was seeing a bear a few feet away from me trying to open a trash bin while I was coach surfing in Mammoth.

There was also a impromptu couchsurfing experience we had at Nuremberg on the Danube river during a Renaissance Festival they were having that day.

I've hosted a few travelers coming to Venice Beach too.

Interests

Going on adventures! Never really understood the whole squeeze-everything-into-a-gap-year-once-in-a-lifetime thing, I shall keep on moving...

Tennis, Salsa Dancing, Hiking, Photography

Cultures. Meeting new people, trying out food, taking in the surroundings, collecting new experiences.

Food - I love to cook, love to eat and love to learn about food. I even love doing the washing up ;)
