About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling the world for my passion in tech!

ABOUT ME

I'm a 30-year-old software developer that has been living in the Netherlands since high school.

I live together with my Brazilian girlfriend in Zeist, a town nearby Utrecht, where we've hosted only a few CSers; I suppose that the distance to Amsterdam makes our apartment unattractive.

We do participate in drinks in the city, and are more active in the community in Fortaleza when we visit. I also actively endorse the fantastic Utrecht Free Tours group for travelers to our city, and have participated several times with other CSers.

PHILOSOPHY

Nerdy has lost its meaning a bit these days, but I'm still nerdy in the conventional sense: I love tech, and love working with it. I'm an Android developer for work and hobby, and absolutely love my job!

My love for tech stops where my social life is involved: I love meeting people face to face. Talking over a glass of wine, beer or whisky is something I can do into the deepest hours of the night.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've always had fantastic experiences with CS, making new friends (and keeping in touch with many) and exploring and experiencing places like a native. Mostly, I've only joined meetups and other events, only rarely actually couch surfing.

I've hosted two CSers in my current and previous home in Zeist, The Netherlands. Unfortunately, one was not an ideal surfer as he used our home as a hostel and was pretty much stoned out of his mind the entire stay.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been involved with CS since 2009. I've surfed two couches in Noord Holland, both of which were fantastic hosts.

I've also paid it forward by hosting a Brazilian and Austrian surfer, on two separate occasions.

Interests

I love traveling, and usually get the opportunity through attending conferences. Many times I'll encounter the same faces, and usually only once a year, so there are always stories to share. My vacations usually consist of cultural sightseeing; for instance my last visit to Rome was mostly historical sights, museums and art. Love it!

In my at home, I love to go out for drinks or enjoy a special dinner with my girl friend. Gaming in the weekends with my brother is not to be missed, either!

Music, Movies, and Books

I adore movies from all genres, but can especially enjoy a story with well established settings and characters. (Most people describe those as "boring".) Cinematography is what I'm usually paying attention to, next to the story line!
