I live with my wife and son in Illinois, and teach at the School of Music, University of Illinois.

besides all kinds of experimental music from all times and places, I enjoy yoga (though not very good at it), reading, chess, public radio, cooking, and philosophy.

I lived in co-operative housing as a college freshman/sophomore with 56 housemates.

I will teach what I can about music, though my strengths are in the realm of music theory rather than music practice. I also like to philosophize about music and about human experience. I am fluent in German and English, and generally love languages. I am always looking to hear good stories and poetry, as well as crazy ideas about how the universe might work.
