About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Take care of my son, enjoy the little things in life, be good at my work, find time to keep exploring the world.

ABOUT ME

I'm a poet, a dreamer, a free thinker. I like good conversations and I can talk and listen for hours about all sorts of things, from the economy to literature, from arts to music, from football to politics.

Together with me lives my son and two little fish. Often my boyriend Jacob sleeps over too. He is an artist and musician and teaches in high school. He also enjoys good conversations and has a lot of experience with traveling around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to explore and keep my mind open. I think there is always something new to be learnt.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a few people some years ago and had very positive experiences. I have traveled a little myself and also got to meet really nice people. Further, I have met a few couchsurfers at local meetings here in Tilburg and in Den Bosch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have had about eight guests, and i'm enthousiastic about all the people i've met. Each and every one of them were absolutely interesting and kind.

Interests

"List anything that you are interested in"... uhm... that would be almost everything :-) So here is just a small selection:
independent culture and experimental arts, poetry, the environment, balfolk, wine tasting and good food, as well as beer and pubs and a chat with nice people
oh yes and did i mention chocolate?

Music, Movies, and Books

A book I love is The Little Prince by De Saint-Exupery. Another book that I loved was Simone de Beauvoire's Memoirs of a Dutiful Daughter. I read almost the whole oevre of Italo Calvino, and loved it, but that was really long time ago. Nowadays I'm reading Dutch literature to improve my knowledge of the local culture. I liked De Aanslag (The Assault) by Harry Mulish.

A band I discovered at a local festival is Screaming Females, from the US (punk rock). At the same festival I also enjoyed Sleep Party People (no idea how to label this music though) and Bird, from Eindhoven. I like The Cure, Pink Floyd, Radiohead and many more.

Movies I remember are: The Fifth Element, Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run), Bend It Like Beckham, Goldfish Memory

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going trekking in the Grand Canyon. The first time i saw a painting by Van Gogh in real life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can explain some basic economics, mathematics, philosophy of the arts and especially semiotics. I can also show you nice tricks in photoshop and illustrator and how to prepare some nice italian food. Finally I can help you get started with some italian language, or refresh your knowledge and practice your conversation skills in this language.

I love learning all sorts of things, and especially anything that has to do with arts and music.
