Overview
About Me
I'm re-engaging with Couchsurfing after many years away from it.
I'm a social anthropologist who's researched wellbeing and concepts of a good life; urban nature; and currently working in innovative transport, including driverless cars.
My philosophy:
"No matter where you go, there you are."
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing has been incredibly valuable for meeting people, some of whom have become long-term friends. It's a great way to meet local people and get a better understanding of a place.
I've rarely been in a home situation where I've been able to host, so most of my Couchsurfing experience has been as a surfer - mostly in Uganda.
Interests
I'm fascinated by what it means to be human and love learning about the different ways people live and make sense of the world.
I also love sports - particularly football, floorball, tennis, squash.
For the last year or so my partner and I have had an allotment, so we're having fun growing all sorts, with failures and successes.

Music, Movies, and Books
For music, I like a diverse mix. I think I've got to a stage of life where I kind of prefer listening to music I listened to a decade ago rather than much new stuff.
I'm rubbish at movies - I forget them too easily.
Books - I love anything that can tell me something about the world, and how people's lives are.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to some amazing places. Climbing Cotopaxi in Ecuador was pretty special.
Teach, Learn, Share
I like to cook, and can perhaps share a few Scottish specialities.
I'm always happy to learn something new.
