About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To teach and learn.

ABOUT ME

I am inquisitive and genuine. My partner, Souriyno and I are currently taking steps towards or goal of building our own tiny house and owning our own farm. To hopefully someday be able to grow our own food and enough extra to share with friends, family, and our community. I excited by the prospect of teaching those around me about plants, growing food, and how to live a simpler, more satisfying life.

PHILOSOPHY

Loving kindness and simplicity.

Currently my partner and I are downsizing and working toward simplifying our life in many aspects.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have yet to surf or host via couchsurfer, but hope to change that soon. We have hosted many travelers, however, through other avenues.

Interests

Science, learning, plants, lichens, nature, rock climbing, research, books, movies, cycling. I am a recent graduate in Forestry at Iowa State University. In my free time (if I have any) I like to ride my bicycle, watch movies, and spend time outdoors looking at plants and things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Going to Ecuador to establish a tree nursery for a small farming community in the foothills of the Andes, helping them to get one step closer to attaining fair trade certification.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a scientific mind. I am a trained ecologist with my area of specialization in ecosystem management. I have experience working in both forest and grassland systems. I have a deep love of plants and am always willing to share my knowledge of plants and ecology. Additionally, my partner and I are avid bicyclists and advocates for growing your own food and having a more self-sufficient life and are always willing to share our experiences and knowledge.

I know however that I know very little in the grand scheme of things and so am always open to hearing others experience and learning new things along the way. Learning is one of my favorite pastimes!
