Overview
About Me
I'm a happy approachable person with a big interest in people and how they manage to function (or not) together.
I used to be an avid couchsurfer (even an Ambassador for Cape Town until COVID hit) although these days because of my work in music and the big network of people attached to it, I hardly use it for traveling. That said, it's not for a lack of interest! I love meeting new people and especially like to share interesting perspectives and experiences with people from different cultures.
I run a music festival, an online radio station and a record store in Cape Town, South Africa. I am also part of a collective that throws what I think many would consider the best queer parties in the city — if you ever find yourself in South Africa, don't hesitate to reach out to hear what's worth checking out!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To travel, learn and share. I've surfed in Europe, Asia, North America and Africa, none of which would have been possible were it not for CS. I've had many surfers stay at our place in Cape Town too. I'm here to spread positivity through listening, talking and engaging with everything in-between (including MUSIC).
Unfortunately I've met 2 individuals throughout the years on Couchsurfing that did not seem to understand the beauty of this community. I never thought I'd have to spell this out: if you stay with someone, respect their space. That means many things, but mainly it means not inviting someone into a host's home when they are not there, especially if you do not know the person! It is not your place to control; on the contrary, if you don't like their friends or the way they live their life (in our case that means not talking down on people on the basis of race, sexuality or gender) then please stay somewhere else or get off of Couchsurfing. Your toxic world view does nothing good and just furthers your own negative confirmation-bias disguised as "good vibes".
Interests
I work in communication. I'm also a DJ. I co-own a record store. Started a radio station, host a show on it too. It's a lot, I know.
I'm always keen for ice cream and these days, coffee OR a matcha latte (boujee like dat). I'm barefoot often and like to go on little missions with people, leaving no topic left upturned or abandoning it all and playing like dogs. Love a good wholesome moment probably as much as a good rave — staying up all night is a gift. I like remarking on the various states of the weather (I mean, it affects all of us, so why call it small talk?) so feel free to ask me what the weather forecast means for your trip to South Africa :')
