About Me

Hey, I'm Phil, I grew up in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia, but have lived in Brisbane for almost nine years, so I'm as well versed in things to see and do in 'Brisvegas' as any true local. I relocated here to chase the sporting dream as a semi-pro rugby league player.

I caught the travel bug a few years ago and had some awesome experiences around Europe and the UK. My favorite city that I have visited so far is Berlin; the history and culture of the place had me hooked instantly.

I have recently started studying to be a high school history teacher and my interest in history has me itching to visit Europe for a second time; I would love to visit Red Square and roam the streets of Budapest sometime soon.

I would say I'm a sociable and friendly traveler; I always enjoy learning about other cultures.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am more than happy to show fellow travelers around the great city that is Brisbane, whether it be pointing out the niche bars that only a local knows, or helping you plan your itinerary for your visit.

As a couch surfer I hope to meet some cool people who are willing to share what is on offer in their town or city. Bonus points if you have an interest in history and culture. I'm always interested in trying local food and drink.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music

All sorts of stuff. I like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Cranberries to name three.

Books

Best book I've read is 'Red Square Blues' by Kim Traill. About a young Aussie who travels through the USSR around the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Great read for history enthusiasts.

Movies

Three favourites:

1. The Fighter - Mark Wahlberg
2. The Tunnel (Der Tunnel)
3. 21 Jump Street

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Driving along the Antrim coastline in Northern Ireland was a highlight; It's hard to forget that scenery.
