About Me

Hi my name´s Phil. I love traveling and making friends. I like learning, volunteering and working with people. The best times of my life have been when I´ve have lived with lots of people had lots of hobbies and done lots of volunteering.

I´m a chilled out person, i like hanging out chatting, cooking, socialising, i like exercise and very non serious sport. I´m a bit daft. I like making friends and trying new stuff. I used to cycle run do circuits and play starcraft alot. Now im traveling i just eat alot.

I´ve been traveling 5 months with my girlfriend Emily Jones. We´ve fallen in love with Medellin so we are hoping to live here and get work here. So were new to the city and are looking to make lots of friends start new hobbies, learn spanish ...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I´m looking to make friends.
I like cooking for people and getting local peoples insight into a place.
I want to make friends with people I might end up living with and have a place to stay while I learn about the city and find a home.

Interests

I am a people person and i´m enthusiastic about most things so my interests tend to change with each place. I love exercise, cooking, hanging out with friends and have a good chat. For hobbies I used to play starcraft alot when I moved away from my university home it was a great way of keeping intouch with my mates, I used to do circuits, cycling, occasional rock climbing, running, very chilled out inept football, and lots of volunteering. Now I want to do exercise circuits again, maybe cycling too, but I would also love to help someone out with mechanical or electronical skills if theyre doing up their car or something because I used to help my mate who ran a unversity charity called engineers abroad, I enjoyed an engineering sanitation training I did and the best thing when I have been traveling has been living on a boat and fixing it up. I´m also learning spanish which is more of a neccesity than a hobby. I´d quite like to try a dnd group too. But once I´m settled in the city I will try everything and see which groups have the nicest people.

I´ve recently changed my view of what politics is and so I´m quite interested in it at the moment, not so much party politics but political issues like free health care

I used to garden and make stuff like my treehouse.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like foreign films and Im not that keen on mainstream hollywood. Favourite film is waltz with bashir, then transformers the original animated film, i love akira, studio ghibli, that rommance film called I think before sunset and the sequel before sunrise ... i think. spotless mind, pi (the balck and white maths one), the wrestler, yeah loads, but i take a long time to choose and i ussually avoid rommance and comedy unless i´m in the right mood.

oh yeah
rules of attraction, brass eye (series), jam (series), Talking heads (series of monologues) we need to talk about kevin (book)

I'm a cyborg but thats okay, science of sleep, american beauty, fight club, akira,

Enjoying horror at the moment not the gorey stuff but paranormal activity and other suspense stuff. Oh donnie darko. I love series too loved dexter even though its not that good but series 1 and 2 and 4 are good. Game of thrones, breaking bad. Hannibal.

Books wise I am a bit lost i just read fantasy as a kid and now im bored of it a bit so read books i´m recommended mostly. Love birdsong, jane ayre, daughter of fortune and some othe books by that author, hannibal, house of leaves (that book will never leave me if you´ve read it you will cringe and know what i mean), lots of different stuff but i preffer stand alone books at the moment. Oh that book erm the outsider is brilliant, and light boxes is fantastic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Went into the mexican jungle with just 3 friends machetes and rope built a boat sailed out. Help set up a charity in africa, lots of volunteering things and work stuff like working with blind children, heroin addicted children ...

I went on an engineering course about organising refugee camps and i would like to do some aid work at some point.

Built a tree house and balancing equipment gokart and stuff for a childcare centre.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share a lot of objective philosophys and different views of the world as ive been blessed with a range of very different and interesting friends so although i dont often have answers on deep questions I have lots of food for thought.
