ABOUT ME

Hi and thank you for viewing my profile! I am writing also on behalf of my wife Jean, whom I've been married to since 2010.
** We now have a daughter, born in 2016 **
We are Kiwis who currently live and work in Yorkshire, England. We like some traditional sight-seeing, but we're most interested in meeting people from other cultures - getting a glimpse of what life is like for them, and how it's different from our "typical" lives. We also love food!! Food is the #1 consideration when thinking about travelling - we like tasting properly-local food in the areas we travel to. Particularly, we love finding local (and cheap) eateries or food-stalls that provide great food. Thirdly, we like history, and visiting sites of historical significance.

Whether you're thinking about hosting us, or interested in couch surfing at our place, we hope that we will get to meet like-minded people who love to have new experiences.

Every human life is of equal, high value.
Treat people how you would like to be treated.
Always generous, never wasteful - this is one of our practical philosophies. We hate waste, and love to see things being up-cycled and recycled!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In 2014 we travelled half-way around the globe, couchsurfing along the way and meeting amazing people. So far we have surfed in Scotland, France, Germany, Italy, Turkey and Iran. Now we are settling down in Yorkshire, and are looking forward to hosting people in our home.

Interests

Music (I play the drums and keyboard, my wife sings). I love music that is highly creative, and excellently produced, irrelevant of genre.
Food - as described above! Jean is a great cook...
Walking - we like to experience the outdoors by walking, both in Urban and rural environments.
Certain aspects of computing - I enjoy tinkering with computers, although I'm not an expert. I use Ubuntu Linux.
Culture - learning about and experiencing different cultures, particularly less-known cultures of the world.
Business - I have started and run a business, and love to connect with other business-people.

Music, Movies, and Books

We like feel-good movies. Definitely not horrors, or thrillers. We certainly aren't movie-buffs. You might be horrified at the movies we haven't seen....

Teach, Learn, Share

First learning - I am learning Farsi at the moment (Persian) - I would love to meet people who can speak Farsi, and help my learning process.
To share - Jean is a great cook, and loves to help people with cooking skills.
I have a range of IT skills, and like to help people solve IT issues. I also like to help people enjoy music in a new way, by understanding some of the more technical aspects of music creation and production.
We love to tell people about New Zealand!! Because it is a great place to live, and has lots of unique qualities.
