About Me

CURRENT MISSION

getting up in the morning, going to sleep at night. do something worthwhile with the time inbetween.

ABOUT ME

I'm currently doing my master studies at Uni with a major in TV and film production. Dany is almost finished with her studies in economy, and is preparing for her final exams now.

That said, I'm into anything related to creative industries and work as a freelance digital producer, creating anything from still and motion pictures to graphics, VFX and 3D stuff.

Also people call me when their computers have died and they need someone to fix them. I don't like that a lot, but then again they need their machines fixed and they're willing to pay money for that. So what I gotta do? ....

Other than that, I like to take my backpack, grab whatever money is left and hit the road to see where it takes me. The farther, the better. Also good food and drinks mean a lot to me and my girlfriend. So we cook and taste a lot. Naturally I do not only enjoy making movies but also watching them. I also enjoy days away from computers and cellphones. Unfortunately there're to less of them.

PHILOSOPHY

Whatever wise words one quotes here, they all sound cheesy to a certain degree. So I'll just say that much: be interested in the world that surounds you. No quote. Just what I think.

And for the sake of it, here's the unavoidable quote:

Her life was in their hands,
now her toe is in the mail.

- taken from ... you figure it out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, what's the meaning of life? a lot of people ask. And a lot of people answer: making the world a better place.

Think whatever you want about that.

If I can help people out by giving them a warm welcome, exchanging ideas, share thoughts and worthwhile moments with them, then that's pretty much worth it I think!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Surfed plenty of couches from Europe to Asia and Australia/New Zealand. No better way to travel, no better way to connect.

Interests

Traveling (nooooo - you don't say?), anything related to motion pictures or creative industries, food and the big world of culinary joys. That also means drinks. You'll find a selection of at least 5 different beers, plenty of scotch, rum, grappe and other spirits and of course a lot of good wine here.
Also: media production technology discussions, professional camera equipment and such geeky stuff. But generally I tend to be interested in anything new somebody can tell or teach me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Far to many excellent directors and actors out there to be listed here. As long as I have the impression that someone had a long deep thought about making this movie, I'll watch it and make up my mind after that.

Same with music. Have a tendency for Irish Folk, Folk in general, Blues, and Singer/Songwriter stuff. Tom Waits, Bon Iver, Mumford and Sons, The XX, The Counting Crows, just to name a few.

books, well... it's been a long time since I've read anything other than study literature I have to admit... My Girlfriend is completely into the whole reading business, I always fall asleep after a page or two.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching great humpback whales with their newborn babies just a couple of meters ashore in the Pacific Ocean.

Swimming with giant sea turtles off the Perhentian islands, Malaysia

Also the boat ride to the island of Tonga there was quite exciting. The bad kind though.

oh and jumping out of a plane and down a huuuge bridge in New Zealand. Yea, that was amazing too.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn how to surf. little hard here in Austria though.
If you wanna know anything camera related I dare to say I can tell you a little bit about it. And also if your computer is in bad shape I might be able to help out.
