About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To successfully complete a research study that I'm currently undertaking in Australia... and to find time to tango at the same time!

ABOUT ME

Every time I am presented with the task of describing myself my description never quite comes out complete, but here we go...!

I love meeting new people and learning about what it is that drives them to be who they are (that means you!), but most of all, I strive to learn about the world around me, what makes things "tick", and how I can best give help to those people in need of it.

I'm currently a student in Australia studying sustainability with an independent American study-abroad program (SIT), so this may give away that I try to live my life in as environmentally-conscious a way as possible, but I'm someone who loves culture, loves when people can be passionate about things but still open minded about other things, and loves trying to be such an open-minded yet passionate person.

PHILOSOPHY

Work hard, play hard, and experience life to the fullest (while helping others do the same)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Due to a blisteringly rigid university schedule, my couch is, during school months, available only to those surfers seeking a good chat and a place to sleep (see information to the left). If you're just passing through, though, I would love to meet up for coffee (or tea) or a drink to tell you all I know about best experiencing Boulder/Colorado (and I definitely plan on being able to fully host people in the future)!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As of right now I haven't actually CouchSurfed before. I've heard wonderful stories from friends, though, and am excited for any opportunity to meet new people :)

Music, Movies, and Books

This list is extensive and always growing, but I just finished "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night" (highly recommended), am about 300 pages into The Count of Monte Cristo, and am just now also starting up with The Great Gatsby, just to give you an idea...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have... (I still can't believe this)... shared the stage with (and for about 10 minutes held the hand of) Victor Wooten (known for, among other things, playing bass with Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) in a concert with the University of Colorado's West African Drumming Ensemble.

It was his right hand, the one that plucks the bass strings, and... I don't think nails could have pierced his skin. And he's such a nice, down-to-earth guy! One could probably expect this, but oh well... it was an incredible experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach... chemistry, unicycling, general bike maintenance, knitting, west african dance, playing the Irish bodhrán (a frame drum), some cooking, rowing, writing with a broken wrist, getting around without a car (and with only a bike)

...and would love to learn and/or share whatever you wish to share!
