Overview
About Me
I'm an international relations student originally from Germany, although I also grew up in the US and in China for some years, where I was always with my parents and brothers. I'd say that I'm from a fairly international background since my mom is from Argentina and my parents already spent their childhoods abroad. In a way they handed their fascination for and interest in foreign countries and cultures down to me - and I'm embracing every bit of it as well as every opportunity I get to experience something new.
I just spent a year abroad for my studies, first studying in Seoul and then doing two internships in Mexico and Taiwan.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I don't (yet) have a lot of experience with couchsurfing, but I have several very good friends that do it fairly often and have so far loved it. So I'm really excited to get to know the couchsurfing community and make such experiences while travelling.
I have realized that the only way to really learn about and understand a country's culture is to interact and talk to locals and share their experiences. This is why I think couchsurfing is such a great platform. There's really no better way to experience a place with the people that live there because of the authentic perspective it offers.
Interests
I love cooking and eating (more so eating than cooking actually). A big plus of traveling is getting to try so many different types of food. Amazing.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a big fan of classical music, ever since I was a kid. Verdi, Puccini, and Chopin are on the top of that list, but I also really enjoy listening to jazz and pop music every now and then. Thanks to a friend I haven't been able to stop listening to the musical "Hamilton" ever since I first listened to it (it amazes me how emotionally invested I can become with people that lived over 200 years ago and that I really have no connection to whatsoever).
I love reading books (I also really like buying them judging by their cover). My last reads were Homo Deus by Yuval Noah Harari and Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and his years of pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami, which I really liked (except for the ending, which I still can't quite wrap my head around).
Other books I love:
- 1984 by George Orwell
- The Circle by Dave Eggers
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
- Der Schwarm, Limit, and Lautlos by Frank Schätzing
If I have time I enjoy catching up on TV shows like Game of Thrones, House of Cards, Fringe, Scandal, Sense8, The Man in the High Castle, and most recently Stranger Things. My favorite movie of all times is Cloud Atlas (love it!).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I definitely had the time of my life when living in Beijing for three years, where I graduated from high school. I got to experience and country so different from my own, and have come to embrace the culture and people there. I miss this time and my friends from school a lot, and am so glad that I sort of get to call Beijing my home, even though I moved away in 2014. Visiting it again this year for the first time since then truly felt like a homecoming!
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning and practicing foreign languages. Since talking and practicing is the best way to get better at a language, that's definitely something I can offer for other language fans.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to think that I'm an interesting person that's seen places all over (still so much more to see!) so I can definitely share past experiences and stories
