ABOUT ME

Hey there! Name's Philip, and I'm a recent college graduate. My friends would first say I'm funny. I don't know if this is true, but I do enjoy making people laugh. After that, they'd probably tell you I was tall. They'd also say I was very nice. And by nice, I mean sarcastic.
My friends would also describe me as a strange L.A. hybrid. I'm from L.A.--born and raised--but not a stereotypically L.A. person. I'm not in showbiz; I wear a lot of black, and I don't really like the beach. I'm also a writer, which L.A. folks assumes means screenwriting. It doesn't. It means fiction and nonfiction prose.
I'm half-Mexican, half-White, and I'm also gay. So, as you can imagine I have a lot to write about.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is that love is anywhere you look for it. Everything is a gift and a lesson. Sadness can be a lesson. We are all connected, and the more we know each other, the more we are loved.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am doing a cross-country road trip by car, so right now I'm mainly surfing. However, in the Fall, I'll be back in Los Angeles permanently and hope to start hosting LA surfers!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I discovered CouchSurfing very recently through a very close friend who happened to be an international student. He had amazing experiences, and I was completely inspired to come check it out. :)

My interests are pretty varied.
I am obsessed with--and sort of study--popular culture and fame. This fascination bleeds into a slight obsession with kitschy things such as the Kardashians, the Royal Family, and vintage typewriters.
I love all genres of music, varying from Incubus and 311 to Dvorak and Brahms. My favorite music of all time however is female (and some male) R&B, Soul, and Funk from the sixties and seventies with a healthy dose of disco divas thrown in for good measure.
I am a writer, which goes hand in hand with my love for books. I read everything all the time. I'm a pretty quiet person in that respect. My favorite book is Wuthering Heights, followed pretty closely with The Great Gatsby, To Kill a Mockingbird, and The Godfather.
I love talking about any forms of media culture, be it movies, music, or books. I love tracing the connections between them all, and enjoy nothing more than a stimulating conversation.
I also follow the fashion world pretty avidly.
