Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
For the short term, I would like to learn French better.
ABOUT ME
I am originally from the very small university town of Wolfville, Nova Scotia, Canada. I moved to Halifax (Nova Scotia's capital city) in 2002 to study literature and linguistics.
Since then I have worked in hotels, restaurants, fashion, sales, writing, and editing. Now I am travelling full time in Europe until I find reason to move on to the next destination.
I live and let live. We get one try at life, so I'm trying to make mine a good one, and help others do the same. I like speaking with people from many different backgrounds, and ways of living--if it's not hurting anybody, then it's fine by me.
PHILOSOPHY
You get one go through life, so I am hoping to make mine count by seeing as much of the world and the people in it as I can. I think if you are open and you treat people well, many great opportunities will await you.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am currently travelling, and meeting many great people thanks to couch surfing. When I get home I can't wait to see if I can open up some space in my home for people like me.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far the experience has been great. I have been extremely lucky and have made some friends for life. I can't imagine a better way to meet people while traveling alone.
Interests
There are many things that interest me: guitar, music in general, nature, history, the universe, green energy, the pursuit of happiness, and people, but my real passion is language, and the power of words.
For the immediate future, I am looking forward to doing some travelling, taking lots of pictures, and sharing some good times with good people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Of all the places I've been so far, I think I was most surprised by the Font-de-Gaume cave paintings just outside of Les Eyzies-de-Tayac-Sireuil, in Aquitaine, France. I went in thinking they would simply be primitive sketches on the wall, but was shocked to see the amazing technique and skill of the artist(s).
The National Gallery and the British Museum were also very eyeopening for me. Perhaps this was mostly because these were two very early stops after crossing the Atlantic Ocean for the first time, but so many things I had only seen in books before were right there in front of me. New revolutions in media have given us so many ways to see the world in two (and sometimes three) dimensions, but I am travelling now because I believe nothing replaces the firsthand experience.
So far, I have met a long list of interesting, and wonderful people with whom I have been communicating since. I hope to meet many more along my travels.
