About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel as much as I can! Meet more people, make more friends!

ABOUT ME

Men: I’m heterosexual so please respect this fact.

Women: I’m very sensitive and aware of the potential negatives associated with Couchsurfing. Additionally, I am very aware this isn’t Tinder. My respect for you is my top priority.

The first thing people usually notice about me is that I'm always smiling. I don't like stress and stress doesn't like me so we don't hang out much; with that said, I'm always looking to laugh and share jokes with someone; I'm not easily offended. I've never really cared too much for drinking and I do not smoke. However, I do enjoy my wine and beer socially. I enjoy spending my time hanging out with friends, playing soccer, going to the gym, watching movies or any great series. I try to be as spontaneous as possible and avoid saying no to something new.

I’ve frequented to Portugal, where my parents were born, during most of my summers for 4-8 weeks and I am in love with Portugal more than I can express. It is a large part of my identity since I have been raised culturally Portuguese-American.

For school I attended the University of Connecticut and double majored in "Molecular & Cellular Biology" and "Pathobiology." I took time off and then went back to school to become a nurse. I finished my nursing degree at Quinnipiac University and have been working as a nurse in cardiology, the surgical ICU, and most recently the float pool (I am sent to wherever in the hospital / to any department that needs me that shift).

When I was 21 I learned how to ski and wish I had done it sooner. I think, as a child, I've missed out by only ever playing soccer. I love outdoor activities and many different sports.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to grow old regretting as little as possible. I want to surround myself with people that make me laugh and bring joy into my life. I want to work to live, not live to work. I just want to be happy as often as I can possibly be happy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think I'm very good company and the most common expression I display on my face is a smile. If you are a friendly person and like conversation, we will get along :) I love meeting new people and making friends from everywhere.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far I've used Couchsurfing in Romania, Germany, Madeira island, Belgium, and Copenhagen and had pretty good experiences overall. Several hosts in particular were absolutely amazing. Showing me and my ex-girlfriend or me and my best friend parts of the city or surrounding area we might have otherwise over looked. I hope to help other fellow travelers in the future.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My dad and I traveled around Portugal in 2004 to watch various games during the European Championship (similar to the World Cup but it only includes teams from Europe) which included the very passionate final, that Portugal made it to, only to lose to Greece. I have never, in my entire life seen a country so passionate about their team. The atmosphere was so moving I too was brought to tears like so many others around me when Portugal lost the final. Along the way my dad and I saw Portugal vs Russia, Spain, Holland, and Greece. Additionally I was a live witness to Italy vs Sweden where the [voted] best goal of the year was produced.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a lot about molecular biology and my anatomy is fairly strong. Anything pertaining to disease or viruses in particular I'm knowledgeable. I can cook and feel most comfortable on the stove sauteing food rather than grilling.

I'm up to learn just about anything. I know, that's a very vague answer, but it's more or less true!
