About Me
Who is me? I don't want to hide behind blank words anymore, the actual Philipp has been living in their shadow for long enough. My confidence to think, talk, write, and work my mind without regard to general expectations has consistently grown ever since I came to accept sensitivity and self-awareness as the 2 centerpieces of my existence. My words may seem heavy at first, but I actually experience life as something very light and fluffy, almost like floating. In fact I wouldn't be surprised to find myself reborn as a cloud in the sky one day, perhaps passing by your window. What shape will I be?
Maybe, or so I thought, someone might just "recognise" me if I expose a little bit of how my consciousness streams. I find it hard to describe myself with nothing but words, so let me try instead to explain what 'being somebody' feels like to me: Like a constant dream. Like being myself and the world around in equal shares. Like rain falling in the silence of night. Like a tender melody in a cacophony of harmonies. Like wind itself. Like a key to countless locks. Like being my own event horizon. Like having opened eyes and ears that couldn't be closed again.
(.. but if one label has got to say it all: INFP -
I can actually identify with that pretty well! )
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Couchsurfing embodies one of the greatest ideas ever in terms of travelling, I think we can all agree that things wouldn't be the same without it. Although local hospitality hasn't been invented by couchsurfing, the opportunities it creates are simply priceless.
Interests
I’m very curious by nature and there are few things I don’t like to learn/think about. I spend quite a considerable part of my time just contemplating and sensing, it's not even a choice, just my way of being.
I’m sensitive and receptive to my environment. I like to trigger my senses, experience the world, and feel reality’s hard grip underneath my feet to compensate for my head being so high up in the clouds. I love to walk around new places aimlessly: you can see, hear, smell, feel, recognise so many things- just allow the universe to become part of yourself!
I have an almost spiritual relationship with music. It’s the ultimately sublime form of expression and the most direct connection to my heart & mind. Music doesn't just fill the gaps of my life, it's not a soundtrack or a distraction or a minor matter; it's the pure air I breathe and the language I most sincerely speak.
Language in general and languages in particular is another great passion of mine. It's amazing how many doors you unlock just by learning a set of new quirky sounds and how to combine them sensibly. I haven't grown tired yet of accumulating new language skills and I'm looking forward to becoming a legit polyglot in the future...
I gotta say that the borders between language and music appear somewhat blurred to me. I think that basically they are the very same thing, trying to express similar concepts in slightly different terms. That's just because I think the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, and it's human who invented language (+ music), not language that humanised a bunch of 2-legged monkeys. Did I already mention that I like philosophy too? ;)
...and not to forget about the most liquid of my passions: drinking awesome tea!

Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC: I have a broad taste and general interest in music, so I'm not going to pin myself down on any style or artists in particular. But be assured that I won't easily grow tired of playing, making, discussing or exploring music, since simply put music is the greatest delight of my life.
MOVIES: My favourite movies are spacey, clever, witty, absurd, overwhelming, intense, or simply well-made.
BOOKS: I’m afraid that naming my favourite authors would reveal more about myself than everything I've written so far... but if I had to pick just 1 book to represent the way I feel about the world, it's gotta be Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I looked up in the sky and it made me very happy ;
I sang out loud on an empty street and felt deep relief ;
I realised how I was one with the universe and the feeling stretched through all my pores ;
The most amazing experiences were never those with great names, it was really just about that little bit of cosmic harmony within my mind.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'll be happy to "teach" (rather give you an idea of) German, or even some Viennese dialect for the real enthusiasts. I can also simply give you general tips on how to learn languages since I'm rather experienced in it. I could try to show you how to play your favourite songs on the guitar, it's easier than you might think!
I can teach you how to juggle 3 or more balls, and I probably know more about Pokémon than is reasonable. I can show you how to build excellent paper airplanes, how to make dominoes fall effectively & spectacularly, how to live and survive a life full of doubts and questions - and how to make even the most random set of hobbies appear as if they constituted a coherent worldview!
