About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Caring for my 100 year old Father, and taking care of his house and property.

ABOUT ME

I'm an adventurer. I enjoy traveling, finding new roads to drive down, meeting new people who share a love of adventure, good food, good discussions. I like to cook, bake, and play chess. These days I'm obsessed with Kitesurfing.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is an experiment that we conduct with ourselves. Whether we admit it or not we choose our circumstances, our actions, and our reactions to everything around us. I choose to keep an open mind, to search for love, happiness, and adventure.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been a host, and a guest. As my circumstances change my role changes.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There are so many kinds of couches out there. I've had the pleasure of meeting some amazing people who have put me up in everything from a really nice 3 bedroom guest house to a futon on a back porch. Sometimes we've stayed awake for hours talking over drinks, and sometimes it's over wonderful home cooked meals.

Interests

Travel and adventure. My life right now is primarily about taking care of my Dad. He's 100 years old, and fortunately quite sharp and healthy. When I'm home I spend most of my time working on my Dad's property restoring and recovering the landscaping from the jungle it's turned into since hurricane Katrina. I bake sourdough bread, play chess, and travel when I can. This year my travels have been all about Kitesurfing. I've been to the Dominican Republic, and Mexico so far this year.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: The Other Boleyn Girl, Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, The Brotherhood of the Wolf, Ironman, Mostly Martha, No Reservations, Shakespeare in Love, Elizabeth, Gettysburg, The Patriot, Rob Roy, Braveheart, Amadeus, Goya's Ghost, Silverado, and this list will continue forever.

Music: Classic rock from the 70's and 80's, Current Billboard hits. I like Taylor Swift, and Pink, Lady Gaga, Kei$ha, and Pitbull. Good hip hop or country, and classical. I'm pretty much all over the board when it comes to music. If it's got a good beat, I'm tapping my foot to it.

Books: I read a lot. Lately I've enjoyed Safidean Ammous' books about bitcoin, money, and economics.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Placed 52 out of 107 Athletes in the 2012 ICF Freestyle Kayaking World Cup.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a good teacher. I'm an accomplished kayaker, cook, and film and video editor. I would love the opportunity to share any of these skills with people who have an interest in learning.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a really good cook, and I love it when I get to cook for friends. Coming from Louisiana my specialty is Gumbo, chicken and sausage, or seafood depending on what's available. I can cook up a mean breakfast as well. Like southern biscuits? Mine are heaven.
