About Me

Hello everyone! I'm a cheery physics student from Montreal, Québec. I was living in Geneva, Switzerland, for a semester abroad, and now I'm just travelling around until I gave to go back to real life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Don't get me wrong- staying in Hostels is fun, especially for nightlife. But that's also its problem : you tend to discover a place's tourism industry, not the reality of it. Couchsurfing allows us to make a much more meaningful connection with the land and people of the place we're visiting, and I think that's what it's all about! :)

I like meeting new people, and having an insider's look on a culture, city, or country is the best way to see its beauty. Eventually, I'd love to host, roommates allowing.

Interests

I'm sort of all over the place on this one. As a physics student, I'm obligated to be a bit of a nerd. Video games, books and comics are where I spent most of my childhood : and I don't plan on growing out of them any time soon.

Otherwise, I like sports, but I'm not that good at most of them and I'm not particularly competitive, so I tend to shy away from team sports and focus my free time on 'solo' sports like hiking or weightlifting. I love getting out into nature, hiking, biking, kayaking or anything else in the great outdoors.

I love to travel and the culture exchange that comes with it : I like to cook and to eat new food, discover new languages and lifestyles, music, nightlife... I'm interested by photography, and am trying to improve on that.

Too often left out, I like laughter. I like jokes, I like comedy, I like dark humor, light humor, sattirical humor. I think I'm a funny guy, and it's not too hard to get a laugh out of me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to electronic music, but I love all sorts of music : I'd love to discover something new!

As for books, I like science-fiction & fantasy mostly (there's that nerd again).

I love watching stand-up comedians, maybe even more than comedy films. Again, sci-fi is a favorite of mine.

I'm not good at throwing stuff into genres : if it's engaging and well produced, I'll probably dig it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked for a while in Sicily, helping an amazing German guy who gave up his life to pursue his dreams, building an ecologically sustainable camp open for "all with an open heart and a will to work". Being part of his dream was amazing.

I hitchhiked a loop around Ireland, and saw so many beautiful places, met so many selfless and joyous people, Irish and otherwise, who made me fall in love with the beautiful, rainy, emerald island.

I consider myself pretty clever, but my studies have lead me to meet people who are downright brilliant, yet so fun, so nice and so helpful.

Now, my studies have brought me to Europe where I've seen so many different cultures and had a ton of amazing meetings... So in the end, I haven't really done amazing things so much as I've lived them, or met them! I can only hope to be the source of an amazing experience like these for someone one day.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm willing to teach whatever I can, though I feel as though I've got just a whole bunch of odds and ends of knowledge, little tidbits and fun facts, and nothing really clearly defined, past my languages and math/science.

I want to learn everything I don't know and that you're willing to teach! I like learning about languages, cultures and cooking. I'd love to learn proper photography one day.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm an alright cook, depending on who you ask. I'm generally a good worker and can do most types of manual labor... I'll make myself useful. I could help you with languages, math or science, if you'd like.

Other than that, there's my sunny disposition! ;)
