About Me

Hello! My name is Phillip Wenturine, I'm 24, and feel free to add me on Facebook or Instagram (Phillipppe) to see more of me, or check out my website with details on myself at www.PhillipWrites.com. I want to break into the couch surfing community, and my reviews from Airbnb are here! https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/14174279. I am currently a Fulbright Scholar to Portugal and am traveling around doing research. In my spare time, I am also traveling all over Europe to do more research as well for Fulbright, which is aiming to bring awareness to countries abroad back in the United States. My purpose for couch surfing is to meet locals and gain a more cultural experience! I like sangria, relaxing on the beach, and reading books. I am very quiet, and just looking for a place to be my temporary cozy while I travel and meet locals! I would love to share my writing as an exchange as I am also an author. I can print out some stories, read some to you over some wine, or share them virtually! Thanks for your time reading this!

Music, Movies, and Books

I love the book Wild as well as the movie (the one with Reese Witherspoon). As far as books, I love James Frey, Chuck Palahniuk, David Sedaris, J.D. Salinger, Virginia Woolf, Junot Diaz, etc. For music, I like soulful music, but sometimes a bit of hip hop if I'm out and about. It's interesting to me listening to music from the countries I visit. Currently, I love sitting in the street listening to the street music all over Portugal. A good cello solo really gets me! Haha.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked for a week through the Thailand Rainforest and visited local villages along the way. We had nothing but a backpack with a change of clothes and food. We got to make fires in the forest and live off the land, and it was such an amazing experience.

Machu Picchu was also amazing, but that is a more touristy thing. Best views ever, though!

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to teach at an orphanage in Kunming, China, to elementary kids, many with disabilities. It utterly touched my life, and I would love to be able to go back one day.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my writing with my hosts and I am a published author and writing is very special to me. I can also share a good conversation, and a return welcome for anyone ever coming to visit Santarém.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Canada, England, France, Jamaica, Japan, Laos, Mexico, Myanmar, Spain, Thailand

Countries I’ve Lived In
