Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I want to travel and see local people. It's better than buying touring tickets and seeing the big sights. Even though I wouldn't mind seeing landmarks, i think i'd enjoy a friendly conversation and just people watching as well. when I have a place to live I try to host and when I travel I would like to surf.
It boggles me sometimes, that this community is all about 'kindness of strangers,' experiencing different locations and seeing it's natives, also a chance for a safe place to sleep during a long journey... yet people are very picky about who they are hosting or where theyre surfing. The experience will come when someone host you and have a conversation, or a random travelor needs a place to stay and you can offer up even the floor of a heated house. Yet, for some, they expect a bond of gratitude and eternal friendship, you will have that, once u offer someone a chance.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have stayed at two different CS host members, one in Chicago,IL and one in Columbus, OH. It was a very good experience as my hostS were very nice and friendly. They showed us the city and took us to many different bars and sites. I hosted two German females while I was in Florida, 2010. They gave me very good German cookies ! It was worth it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
theres never ONE amazing thing you have done, but i have done some things that are outside of my comfort zone, things i've never done before, and things that i never thought i could do. well my expectations are very low so when things happen, i am always amazed.
1. sailing and snorkeling in the Caribbean, lived there for a month and worked at club med
2. kayak, camp, rafting, paint ball, hiking, started many fires, canoed, rivers, oceans, lakes, ponds, fountain swimming, fished, killed and ate it.
3. became a traveling chef working seasonal jobs around the country and the Caribbean, kids' camps, resorts, hotels, bed and breakfast, high end fine dining restaurants in major cities to the mountains of california
and it's not over yet
Teach, Learn, Share
sometimes in the most unexpected place, you receive kindness from strangers and it just makes the world seems like a better place. everytime im in the woods and get to see the stars, it reminds me of how insignificant i am. one tiny cosmic speck compared to the brightly burning star millions of miles away, whose life is seen by the whole galaxy.
