About Me

CURRENT MISSION

my mission is to see every country, taste every food, and talk shit with random people in cities with blue skies and different cultures

ABOUT ME

I am pretty open and outgoing. I like reading and talking about books, films, and travelling. I am sarcastic, relaxed, unorganised, restless. I love nearly all sports, hitchiking, teaching, making bad jokes, drinking wine. I like people with a sense of humour about themselves.

I have spent most of the last 7 years living out of a bag in some city of another and I like seeing new things and scaring myself (which sometimes inadvertently leads to scarring myself.)

PHILOSOPHY

dont follow leaders, and watch your parking meters.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

when i move into fixed abodes, any bum, thief, swindler or traveller can sleep on my sofa and I will take them to the pub. That's a promise.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

good times

The Third Man, Serpico, A scannar darkly, This is England, Synecdoche NY, Sweet and low down.

Darkness at noon, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, The Quiet American, Crime and Punishment, notes from the underground, great expectations, the unbearable lightness of being, salinger books. um...the plague, a brief history of nearly everything, a portrait of an artist as a young man, the man who mistook his wife for a hat

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wild camped wild Cambodia

Cycled from Budapest to Geneva through the Alps, cooking on an old Hungarian military stove.

climbed pichu pichu, a 5,500 metre volcano in broken shoes and a t-shirt.

Walking 300km from Sao Paulo to Rio in old cons and sleeping rough on beaches.

The Valley of the Kings from a hot-air balloon.

Sat in a cab with no doors in Venezuela in a queue for illegal petrol listening to Chavez on the radio.

Travelled Latin America for 3 years.

Hitch-hiked from Mexico to Guatemala.

Spent the night by the Peruvian-Bolivian border next to some old homeless chulas under a towel to try and bear the bitter winds coming off of Lake Titicaca and waiting for the border to open.

Jungle trekked to Ciudad Perdida in Colombia.

Cycled from Porto Alegre to Punta del Diablo across the Taim.

And teaching sociopathic 12 year olds to speak English to a reasonable level.

Teach, Learn, Share

The crack of a whip is the tip breaking the sound barrier, not leather against leather.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you guitar, a language (or bits of several), English cooking (don't laugh! It's good!)
