About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make the world a better place for every being!

ABOUT ME

I am often described as full of energy, creative, kind, and resourceful. I am an artist and I teach art to children. I am politically and socially active; involved in many vibrant communities, such as singing, arts, growing food and my newest is raising chickens. I have enjoyed re-inventing "family" since my children have grown and moved on. We are now 4 generations of women living as room mates in my Victorian home! I love sharing good food and interesting conversations with old and new friends.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe there is enough for everyone. We need to learn how to share better, care more about each other, respect our earth and use wisely all her gifts to us.
I love Gandhi's quote "Live simply, that others may simply live"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to CS and love the entire concept! I have always hosted travelers from distant shores, so I look forward to meeting some more of you.
Soon I will be joining the mobile masses and traveling as well,

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I just hosted my first guest and she was delightful! Looking forward to offering my couch again soon.

Interests

When I am not teaching kids how to make things in clay, or to paint, draw or sew; I am busy with many projects around my house. I am often seen at city council meetings, anti-war rallies, plays, music and theatre performances, author readings, art openings, exhibitions... cultural affairs. I spend loads of time outdoors from working outside, walking, riding my bike, relaxing in my hammock. When I must go inside and mostly at night, I love movies, cooking, dancing, singing, radio, and books.

Music, Movies, and Books

Recently been reading Derrick Jensen. As a deep ecologist, his view is often abit dark but so loving and valuable in it's inquiry.
I love documentary and independent films most.
I love many types of music from Jazz, Latin, RandB, HipHop, Classical and many vocal types. I am especially fond of acapella.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watching the lava move from the center of the earth, up to the surface - glowing red, molten, flowing like water, hissing into the crashing ocean off the big Island is a most amazing experience. Watching earth being born!

Kayaking on a small glacier lake, the color of pale jade, light rain at twilight, gliding past beavers building dams, mama bears frolicking with cubs, eagles eyeing salmon thick in the water, all not more than 15 feet away, carrying on in such an unconcerned-with-us manner. As it should be.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy people who have something to say. Folks who have traveled and experienced the many ways our species chooses to live. Those who are respectful and reflective on our current place as humans on this earth: why are we here? what do we have to share and teach each other? Maybe it is a s simple as a good meal and conversation about our shared human experience.
