About Me

I'm Golf. Yes "Golf" is my nickname. I was born in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, the southern part of Thailand. When I was young I dreamed to be a doctor because I wanted to fight with cancer which separated my mom forever from me when I was nine. But when I grew up, I found myself differently. I have a passion for social work which I think, it would be the best way to deliver all of the capacity I have to be used helpfully for community and myself either.

I also love traveling because it’s a way to open my eyes to see the world and feel a sense of belonging as a world citizen. According to this, I finally call myself a PASSIONATE SOCIAL WORK TRAVELLER.

After finishing my bachelor's, I moved back to the south to work with Rohingya people, the Muslim minority group in Myanmar who fleed from their home in order to seek asylum. After that one year of valuable experience, my life was stopped by military drafting, I needed to be a modern slave for one year. I would say that it was the worse experience in my life. After I survived from the military, I started my new job by moving to Measot, the bordering district between Thai and Myanmar. I became a fully licensed social worker. My workplaces are refugee camps and residential care institutions along the border.

By working in this field, I have grown a lot in terms of accepting another human being and myself. I was allowed to get into people's lives, to hear about their experience and background which help me understand a lot in HUMAN and definitely myself!! I think that' is one of the reasons why I love to be with strangers, to hear their stories in order to get to know them because I know how much stories and experiences of others can change my life.

Now, I quit the job to start again the new chapter of my life. For these 2 more years (mid2019 -mid2021), I'm going to spend my life in Europe, mostly in Portugal, Norway, and Sweden, to pursue the Master of Social Work with Family and Children as I get Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. Hopefully, I will meet a ton of wonderful people along my journey and wish that she/he will be "YOU" who is reading this. :)

Personally, I'm easy going, flexible and fun!! I love to party, going out to nature, explore and see people's way of life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about Couchsurfing from many backpackers who I met along my journey. As a backpacker as well, I love the idea to get to know new people from all over the world by sharing the thing that I can share.

For me, CS is not a free hotel, it's the platform for me to feel related to another human being across the globe. Moreover, I also have a dream to travel and explore this world and I realize that CS is an alternative way for me to bring the world into my house!! How cool it is!!

According to my CS experiences, it definitely makes me know the truth that even we are different, we still have so many things in common.

Cheer for this community!!

Interests

I'm interested in the world and its people. I would love to learn everything from you and the places i go. Especially, the differences which we might have such as culture, belief, language, a field of work and study, and etc. I believe that the important way to grow is to learn from differences.
