About Me

CURRENT MISSION

no special mission at the moment

ABOUT ME

I´m 34 years old, I live in flat together with three other people. The flat is quite old and has wonderful wooden floors, high doors and windows which are not the best if the temperature is as low as this winter. But I like the windows because they are beautiful and I would never remove them. I like hot tea with lemon and whiskey too (Lagavulin and Lahroaig and Dalwhinnie). I like to walk in Scotland but not because of the whiskeys (only). I prefer northern landscapes to southern ones, because the colours are just incredible after the rain or when the sun bursts through the clouds.
I studied literature and now I´m writing and do some smaller jobs in spring and winter to earn money.

PHILOSOPHY

I think we (people in democratic countries) have much luck that we live in such a great time. That´s not ironic.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to host people of course. So, if somebody needs a place in Halle than that´s usually no problem.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No experience in Couchsurfing up to now. Some experience in Hospitality-Club and that were good and interesting ones.

Interests

I like to have time. If I have time I´m often confused what to do first. Usually I can´t decide between: Reading a good book, taking the most important things and go to Scotland or Norway or something similar, painting, writing, taking pictures. Sometimes I end up in the kitchen doing the dishes instead.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of books. The ones which had a big influence on me: Ronja Räubertochter, Pippi Langstrumpf, Kalle Blomquist, Karlson vom Dach by Astrid Lindgren. The Lord of the Rings by Tolkien. To kill a mockingbird by Harper Lee. The heart is a lonely hunter by Carson McCullers. Momo and the Neverending Story by Michael Ende. Ciderhouse Rules by John Irving. One houndred years of solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez.
It´s the same with movies. I like very much: Together by Lukas Modysson, Fever Pitch by David Evans, Four Weddings and a Funeral by Mike Newell, Braveheart by Mel Gibson, Fried Green Tomatoes by Jon Avnet, Burnt by the sun by Nikita Mikhalkov, Rear Window by Alfred Hitchcock, Master and Commander by Peter Weir, Dead Man and Down by Law by Jim Jarmusch, The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford by Andrew Dominik, Rushmore by Wes Anderson, Kolya by Jan Sverak, The New World by Terence Malik.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Fall of the Berlin Wall.

Teach, Learn, Share

In my opinion the general school-system (at least in Germany) isn´t very flexible. It should more concentrate on individual strenghts and talents. For example I´ve never understood why I had to learn mathematics till the end of my schooltime. It was a complete waste of time and I never needed it again. Moreover I think it would useful to reform the education for people with practical talents.
