About Me

CURRENT MISSION

"to create pictures powerful enough to overcome the diluting effects of the mass media and shake people out of their indifference - to protest and by the strength of that protest to make others protest." -James Nachtwey

ABOUT ME

I am a freelance photojournalist, currently living in Tbilisi, Georgia. I wish to dedicate my life to reporting on political violence throughout the world. I have always been disgusted with the international ignorance of many Americans, and I hope to do my part to change this. I see violence stylized and celebrated in movies and television, yet ignored and dismissed in the news media. I believe it is a person's right AND responsibility to understand the best and worst of humanity. In war you find them both; it should not and can not be ignored.

PHILOSOPHY

"He not busy being born is busy dying." -Bob Dylan

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, John Lenon...
Books: Far too many to name.
Movies: Far too few to remember.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The day after graduating high school I left home to go backpacking, alone, in Alaska's Denali National Park. I went two weeks without any human contact and learned more about myself than I had during the first eighteen years of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am never too far from a guitar, and there's always a camera hanging from my shoulder. I am a permanent teacher and student of both.
