ABOUT ME

Photographer and Wanderlust

I'm a broke photographer/artist but I'm happy and I love my life the way it is.

I've lived in Southern CA, New Orleans, New York and now Portland. I am a vegetarian that loves dabbling in raw food though I stray from all of this at times. I love the quiet lush pace/scenery in Portland, the buzz and craze of New York, the languid vibe and music scene in New Orleans, the sunshine and ocean in California... I listen to music all the time, I strayed away from reading books when I moved away from NYC (where I used to read avidly on the subway to/from work each day).. watch movies when there is time. Mostly I just enjoy allowing each day to unfold.

I'll be in Turkey, Denmark and Germany in the Fall of 2012 to exhibit work and have an artist residency. I'll be living on a frugal lifestyle so couch-surfing would be amazing for me (and make the whole trip possible).

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new here but hope to couch surf while abroad on a 3 month long trip. I've never hosted, but might be up for it when I return.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Through a friend's CS account we stayed with some amazing people in Zurich Switzerland. The trip wouldn't have been the same in any way if we didn't have such great hosts with an apartment close to a swimming spot and local transport. They even let us borrow some bikes to get around.

Interests

Photography, gardening, cooking, bike riding, dancing, traveling, curating photo exhibitions, working on a non-profit I founded with a friend.. WIP (women in Photography- wipnyc.org), making ice cream, thrifting, digging through antique shops for old found photographs, buying nic-nacks and chotchkies, researching future photo projects and artist residencies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flight across the Atlantic en route to Sweden, sun rising over an entire plane of sleeping passengers. Opera was playing in my headphones on the airplane radio as the sun made light disks bounce slowly across the sleeping. I'm not religious but that moment felt profound.

Swimming in every river I could find in Zurich, Switzerland.

Driving 45 days across America and living out of a truck.

Taking a train 30 days across America and Canada.

Swimming in the ocean off a small island near Puerto Rico.

Snow hike at Mirror Lake, Mt Hood, OR..

Living in New Orleans and being in parades throughout every mardi gras.
