About Me

Hi, my name is Phuong (pronounced Fooong).

A little bit about me:
- I am a Chinese/Vietnamese Australian from Sydney
- People would describe me as an energetic, sporty and easy going person with a positive mindset
- I have owned 3 dogs, 8 rabbits, 2 budgies, 11 fish. Can you tell that I love my animals? :)
- I studied Bachelor of Arts majoring in Psychology and Chinese History
- My job involves helping organisations engage, motivate, attract and retain their high potential people
- I love sports, especially team based sports! I used to compete as a track athlete and have also boxed for 6 years
- I eat a lot of watermelon everyday (like A LOT) because we get them free and watermelon is clearly delicious =9
- I love walking and will try to walk wherever I can. The longest hike I've done was 13 hours straight
- One day I would love to do the Oxfam Walk where you walk 100km in 3 days to raise awareness for charity
- I am currently learning Dutch (only 3 months in) and it's been really fun!!The G and R has proven to be hard for me to pronounce though....

You can find me on instagram! The username is tisphuong. My profile is currently private however send me a message and I will accept the request.

HOSTING EXPERIENCE
I opened my home to hosting in Sydney and it was fun playing host to other travellers for the short time I could. I love the positive energy that travellers bring and the stories that they are able to share. I guess it was my way of vicariously living through others.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Whilst I have hosted, I have not had the opportunity to be on the receiving end yet.... until now!! I will be moving to Amsterdam in March and during this time, would love to meet locals from the area. When I travel I prefer to spend my time more constructively and interact with like minded people in the community. I don't consider myself as a tourist but a traveller so when I travel I prefer to stay in accommodations that are going to give me interaction with local people, hostels and the like. This is also the reason why I'm in love with the concept of couchsurfing and I will be grateful to those who graciously open their doors and welcome me into their homes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's an opportunity to meet people from different countries and at the end of the day, making new friends. Hopefully one day I can say that I have a friend in every country.

Interests

I love nature and being outdoors whether it be a good hike, dive, walk around the park etc.

  • crossfit
  • reading
  • traveling
  • outdoor activities
  • camping
  • scuba diving
  • boxing
  • bushwalking

Music, Movies, and Books

I love reading and consider myself a bit of a book collector. My rule though is that my books must be bought in preowned condition either at a garage sale, Op shop, charity store etc. Its just much more exciting when you're hunting for something and you find it unexpectedly. My shelf is filled with books on self empowerment, Chinese history, psychology and various novels. My favourite book will forever be Harry Potter.

I love French films and my favourite movie is "The Untouchables". Watch it if you have time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got on a random strangers bike in Bali and spent 3 days travelling the east coast together.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a curious soul so I like to learn a bit about everything. The stranger the idea, the more intrigued I will be.
Hopefully I will also be able to share with you my views of this world.

What I Can Share with Hosts

It's such a privilege to have people open their homes to you so I will always ensure that I'm very respectful during my stay.

I don't expect a lot of your time - actually I don't really have a lot of expectations - but some good conversation, dinner eating or city walking would be fantastic in whatever amount possible. And accommodation of course :) If you do happen to be free and have the energy to host me, I'd be more than happy to help cook if we share a meal together and don't worry, I'm good with doing the dishes too :P

Countries I’ve Visited

China, France, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam
