About Me

*Update: Since April 2024, I've moved to Da Nang and starting my new career as a Bachata dance instructor :D

I'm curious about everything and travel is one of the best way to explore and experience the world.

I believe everyone has a story to tell and I love to hear them with an open mind to learn something new.

I have met numberous amazing people from all around the world thanks to Couchsurfing and I'm surprised to see how strangers like us can connect and relate on so many levels! I think it's the beauty of this world.
"We are more alike, my friends, than we are unalike." (Maya Angelou)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I came across CS quite a few years ago in a book written by a young, inspiring Vietnamese girl who travelled almost every continent on Earth. I think this is a great platform to connect people and to share cultures.

As a random Irish man who I bumped into during my trip to Dublin quoted ''There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't yet met''

Interests

My interests varies from dancing, writing, improv acting, slow traveling (I like to stay a couple of weeks in one place), exploring new ways of meditation, cooking (the quickest way to people’s heart is thru the stomach).

I especially love arts, culture and theatre! Because of my massive appreciation for beauty and excellence, I always seek for WOW factors and eye-opened moments in life... Anything that makes me think: What a wonderful world! I'm soooo lucky to be alive! Also I’m a semi-professional Playback theatre actress (it’s a form of improv theatre).

Through travelling, I can meet amazing friends from diverse cultural backgrounds, doing different jobs, living in different part of the world yet have so many things in common.

BTW, I can go on and on about my interests, and it's an infinite list that keep adds up. That gives me an advantage to find something in common with most people I meet. Tell me about yours!

Music, Movies, and Books

Similar to my interests, my favourite music is not restricted to any genre or language. I listen to classical, opera, rock, metal to salsa, kizomba, electro, experimental music.... However, my all-time-favourite would be The Beatles. I can listen to them again and again and never get bored! I love live performances as well, so if you know any occurring music festival or gigs in the area, please let me know!

I like good movies that make me think, laugh or cry. I usually pay a lot of attention to the cinematography and sound effect of a film. I also watch series like Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, Orange is the new black. The most recent one I'm really enjoying is Brooklyn 99.

My favourite writers are the Bronte's and Murakami.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Shaved my long hair to join a 10-day retreat and lived like a nun during that time in a Theravada monastery.

- Telling a Vietnamese fairytale to 80 kindergarten kids in Indonesia.

Teach, Learn, Share

- How to make delicious Vietnamese food.
-Some Buddhism meditation techniques (both Samatha and Vipassana) to calm and relax your mind
- A little bit of contact Improvisation (CI), a form of improvising dancing/moving. Also some basic Afro-Latin dances (salsa/bachata/kizomba)
- Some stretching exercises, basic yoga
- If you stay at my place, you can try out pole dancing too as I have a pole installed at home.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share with you a bunch of things about the Vietnamese and British cultures, tips to travel in Vietnam, sketch a portrait of you, teach you how to cook some Vietnamese food, and some salsa/bachata dancing moves too!
