About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live. Learn. Love.

ABOUT ME

I'm a Chinese-Australian young woman who wants to see the world with my own eyes, especially the sights that don't appear in the travel guides and documentaries. I aim to be a pilgrim on my journeys first and foremost... and a tourist second.

I'm generally mild and calm, but I do enjoy a good laugh. I am a nature-lover, and don't mind trading a bit of comfort and luxury for a more dynamic, memorable experience. I'm up for trying new things, as long as those things are good for me - so I can enjoy life more and more!

PHILOSOPHY

Live life, love life. Love what you do, do what you love. Learn to live, and live to learn.

I believe that we have to take care of this beautiful Earth - nature and culture alike, so we can keep being travellers and pilgrims. Keep journeying, for life itself is a journey.

I believe that you haven't visited a place until you've gotten lost in it.

I believe that happiness is something manifested from within, but sometimes, things from the outside can help draw it out.

I believe that you can get high on life by simply, but truly, living every moment.

Music, Movies, and Books

I don't sit down for a movie unless it has a good plot and a memorable message, but if there's good company then I'm up for anything. Some of my favourite movies that I don't mind watching over and over again are: Forrest Gump, Wall.E, Dead Poets Society, and The Human Experience.

I prefer songs with a good melody, but songs with a heartfelt message are what really gets me. :)

I read an assortment of non-fiction books, but I enjoy some good horror fiction as well as more general genres, stuff that makes you think. Some of my favourite writers are: Stephen King (The Shining, Misery etc.), Thomas Harris (The Hannibal Lecter series), and Paulo Coelho (The Alchemist, The Devil and Miss Prym etc.).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Doing fieldwork in central-south Australia, where there are no mountains nor hills in the middle of the flat desert, and watching the Milky Way rise as an arc into the night sky.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about my culture - both about being a Chinese, being an Australian, and being both at the same time. I can teach you about my field of study (geosciences, especially geology), drawing for leisure (I'm self-taught), and a few judo throws for fun.

I want to learn languages - make my Mandarin fluent, re-learn French, and learn German and Spanish, as well as sign language. I used to play the flute, and would love to pick it up again in the future. I'd love to learn to dive and to ski. I want to learn about history, culture, people... how stuff works and why stuff works. Really, I'm up for learning anything at all. :)

I can share my experiences and stories - particularly those concerning the fieldwork I've done in remote places, and my experience in mentoring young adults through youth ministry.
