About Me

ABOUT ME

I'm an easy-going, relaxed and open-minded person who loves to get to know new people and to travel. Hence, I try to escape my daily rountine and pack my backpack to either visit friends abroad or travel to a new country as often as my schedule allows me to. I am usually trying to travel in a more or less spontaneous manner since I believe that when one plans everything in detail beforehandone, one risks to miss out on the most interesting experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Ever since I moved to Marburg, I haven't been able to host anyone. However, my old flatmates and I used to host quite a few travelers in Bayreuth (the city I lived before).
That being said, my motivation to travel by couchsurfing doesn't only derive from hosting people but also from great couchsurfing experiences in Portugal, Italy and South Africa. I am convinced that couchsurfing is one of the most convenient ways to get to know not only the country you are travelling but also a bunch of lovely people! There's little better than getting personal tips and hanging out with locals to really learn about your surroundings!
Since I was mainly backpacking in African countries the last years where not that many people are (yet) involved in couchsurfing, I wasn't able to couchsurf as much as I would have liked to. But I really hope to catch up the next years ;)!

Interests

Generally, I am really interested in photography, music and literature. I try to go climbing at least once a week and to hang out with my friends as often as possible - I absolutely love to have people around! Besides, activism plays an important role in my life. Most recently, I became part of the civil movement SEEBRÜCKE which fights against the European border regime and the criminialization of sea rescue.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to Indie-Folk, Indie-Electro, etc. most of the time. Some of my favourite artists at the moment are Alt-J, Chet Faker, Howling, Ibeyi and Nils Frahm. But as long as you don't force me to listen to Metal or Hard-Rock, I don't really ming listening to some other music as well.
I also really enjoy reading. Some of my favourite books are "Falling out of Time" by David Grossmann, "The Time of our Singing" by Richard Powers and "A constellation of Vital Phenomena" by Anthony Marra.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

mhmh....can't really think about just one thing - there were so many unique and wonderful experiences I had travelling: Travelling over 5000 km from South Africa over Mozambique and Malawi to Tanzania just by public transport was definitely an amazing experience. So was hiking up one of the highest dunes of the world in Nambia at 40°C. And slaughtering a goat at a traditional Zulu healing ceremony. And hiking the Atlas Mountains for three Days. And booking a bus to Lisboa out of the blue at 3am. And....
