About Me

Hi I'm Pierre !

I'm just got my diploma from an engineering school in Paris where I learn a lot of things about technical stuff.

Now, I want to learn a lot of things about life and the world in general. That's why I planned to travel from Phnom Penh, Cambodia to Paris, France hitchhiking and using couchsurfing or workaway depending on my wallet or my tiredness.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The first time I heard of couchsurfing was when one of my friend travelled through Iran thanks the CS community. He told me so many great stories about it with the smiley face of the one that was astonished.
After that, I decided that I wanted to travel more with this kind of system and discover the culture of a country/city/village/place through the people living there and of course make the traveler discover the place where I live!

Interests

I like to think that everything can be fascinating if you try to have interest in it. So I try to be as receptive as possible to others passion and talk with passion with mine. I hope that emotions added to a conversation help people to understand each other a little bit more.

Music, Movies, and Books

I do listen a lot a music but I guess if I had to chose an unique artist, it would be Steven Wilson. Why? I don't know. His musics make me feel something almost each time ^^'
For the movie, I did watch a lot of movie but I kind of lost the interest few years ago... But the movie that made me understand that a movie can be visually beautiful was Interstellar by Christopher Nolan. I think my hobby for sci-fi has something to do with it.
Well for the book, I started to read a lot few months ago and it happened that reading is great! And I can't not say the book that begins that made me love reading : Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? by Philip K. Dick.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

With friends, we spent few nights in the catacombs in Paris. Do you know what it is? Basically, it's an old career where people used to take the stone that make Paris. They crawl all under Paris. But after few collapsing around the city, they decided to shut them down. The opened them again few decades later to put the bones that were in the pauper's grave because it was too full.
Nowadays, it's close again except for a really tiny part that is used as a museum. But you can sneak in to walk inside the street of the underground of Paris :)

Teach, Learn, Share

The spark that kindle my envy to travel around the world was to stay one month in a Buddhist monastery in Nepal with the monks. Looking for experiences like this on Internet, I found out it was possible to be an English teacher there. I found the idea incredible and all the testimonials about it conforted me with the idea that it would be one of the strongest and most beautiful experience I could have in my life.
Moreover, when I was in Bangkok, I stayed in an English school for a few days as a couchsurfer and I really like to teach something. So if you want help in either English, French or computer science, feel free to ask. I'd be glad to help/teach you anything I know :)
And even, I like to tell stories that happen to my fiends or I. So if our experiences could be interesting for you, I be glad to be your storyteller!

For the learning part, as I said in my interest, I try to be as curious as possible. So anything you know, I'd be glad to learn :)
