About Me
Honestly, this is always the most challenging part for me. About me, well where to start and where to end?
But I‘ll give it a try, nonetheless feel free to ask me any further questions.
As stated above, I‘m Piet. Just graduated from High School this summer in the sleepy town of Kaltenkirchen close to my homebase Sievershütten and willing to travel the world. Since entering the graduation semesters in High School, I was sure I wanted to travel abroad and felt like now, just after finishing school, would be the perfect time. So I decided to pack my backpack and say hello to the world.
When it comes to my character, I would quote Tyler from Fight Club: „nothing is static, everything is falling apart“. Everyone of us is made to change, no one will remain the same forever.
But by now, I would consider myself a person that is very interested in politics, environment as well as queer studies. Even if I often don’t find the time besides studying, I love to read books about queer love stories and dive into the scene and would love to get to know someone whose knowledge is very deep. When it comes to interact with people, I’m pretty extrovert, open for almost everything, willing to try everything. I like to spend evenings discussing with friends as well as going out to party and drink (I know, some of you might wonder how, but please keep in mind I’m from Germany which means all of this is legal since the age of 16).
Oh, I almost forgot food. I LOVE cooking, baking as well as going out to eat. The best I recently had was Ethiopian, was really happy to finally having found a vegan one. If we would meet, I would love to spend some time cooking with you and exchanging our skills and eating traditions.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
When willing to get to know a country, it is important not just to take a selfie in front of the biggest tourist attractions, it is important to connect with locals. People who allow you to dive in a little further, making you understand what is happening around you. And in return, you can pay them back with your way to see the world and their country. So I thought it would be a great option.

Music, Movies, and Books
When it comes to music, I’m pretty basic. I love listening to Pop, as well as Juice WRLD, but sometimes I enjoy “Deutschrap” (German rap) as well.
I honestly don’t like watching movies. There are some exceptions, such as The Hunger Games or Ruby Red, but Hollywood-Happy-End stories are almost always a waste of time.
Favorite books areThe Hate You Give and For Real by Alexis Hall, I started The Room Where It Happened, but at a certain point it seemed kinda uninteresting, redundant and Bolton’s conservative perspective was pretty upsetting to me
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, there have been many. Recently, the short trip to London with my friends was the best experience. Followed by the “Mottowoche”, an event in school where we all dress up to a topic and end the week in a party on Friday afternoon on the sports field.
Teach, Learn, Share
Besides my horrible laughter, I can share my knowledge in politics (domestic politics as well as EU and international) in vibrant and diverse discussions, always open to get to know other perspectives and try to understand them.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Wasn’t I supposed to mention that earlier?
But hey, I can offer you a great cleaning service, floor, kitchen or windows and some vegan food if you want to.
